Magic Withdraw Qualifying Offer to Milicic
July 3, 2007
ORLANDO, FL -- The Orlando Magic have withdrawn its qualifying offer to Darko Milicic, making him an unrestricted free agent, General Manager Otis Smith announced.
With the move, the Magic have relinquished its right of first refusal, but retain the qualifying veteran exception (Bird Rights) and the rights to re-sign him.

Some team will give Darko $10million a year, and hopefully it won't be the Celtics. Potential is great, but sooner or later you have work towards achieving it.

I don't think teams will br tricked this time. If Tayshaun makes 7.5 nobody's giving one of the biggest busts ever, whose own team let him go more than 7. Camby makes 8. Perk makes 4 or 5. I'd rather have Perk.

I don't think any team will give Darko a 10 million dollar contract. Considering Chauncy Billups just signed a 10 million dollar contract (6 years for 60 million), there's no way Darko will command the same.
At least, I hope no one will. Now that Rashard Lewis and Billups have signed, only a couple more prized free agents are left (Gerald Wallace and Darko Milicic). I'd give Darko a 6 - 7 million dollar contract, but it may take 8 mil to get him.

We're probably going to end up with a medicore center at best. Unless we move Theo for a decent starting center.
I can see Ainge going after guys like Kaman, Big Z, Camby, Brendon Haywood, or possibly Adoyle Foyle. Hopefully, we give Magloire or someone half of the mle instead taking on a huge contract like the guys i've mention.

Darko will get at least 8 mill a year, if not more. It's a bet. 1 kool aid at stake. I say no more than 7.5.

Sixers are going after Darko now. There are several teams interested. Haven't seen Boston mentioned as one of them though.

If GS trades the 10 mil exception to orlando, then i can see Darko getting the money he's looking for. Who has the cap space to pay darko that kind of money? He might be in a pickle where he'll take a 1 year contract then, try next offseason to seek a huge payday.

Vanilla ice might get $10million, esp if Billy King is involved.

we didn't need or have a use for Darko anyway. I disagree. The guy is a 7 footer and is 21 years old. He averaged 12 pts a game in the playoffs against a physical pistons team. It's not like the grizzles broke the bank to get him, and the number of years puts both parties in a great situation. If he flops he won't be on the books for long. If he shines he will be rewarded. We're not shedding any tears because we didn't land it, but i wouldn't say we have no use for him.
