Well I already know that loyalist, celtic17, Merv17, and RR are on the opposite side of this argument but this team is goin nowhere fast in my opinion. I completely agree w/CF and others (4give me gents 4not mentionin ur names ) and bill simmons' article 'bout this team posted in the "ok my take after thinkin 'bout it" thread. Well the pt 'bout SGs loosin thier legs @31-32 I don't know 'bout , though he's data 2support his case, but everythin else I completely agree with. When u have 2 "find" positives 'bout a trade that should tell u if it was a good move or not. Who among us said last yr that what we need is a guy like ray allen or glen davis to make us real contenders in the east? I don't remember seein thier names on this board @all last yr. No green kool-aid drinkin goin on here. I just look @this team 4what it is and its not much right now . Think 'bout it, who would this team still have 2add 2make Cs fans think that this team is goin 2be a real player in the east? When I say real player I mean a team that can finish anywhere from 1-3or 4 in the east. I know its not a guy comin in on the MLE, that I know . I mean if ur happy bein 1of those 4 or 5 teams that are grouped 2gether 2fill out spots 5or6-8 and gettin kicked out in the 1st rd then ur in ur glory . I like 2c us have a chance 2win this thing personally. So this is what it basically comes dwn 2. We've got a coach that doesn't know how 2sub players properly on top of bad clock mgmt and no visible offensive or defensive stratagey . Now he's coachin a team that need 2have a clear identity on O&D 'cause still don't know if we're a half-court team or a runnin team like they say we are . Add on top of that that we've now added a very vet SG and another 6'9" F and alll of a sudden we're a contender ? I don't wanna hear the east is weak and we can slide in 'cause no1 else is dominant, so what. We shouldn't shoot 4the sky just 'cause the east is weak? Have we lowered our standards since we've been dwn soooo long? I say again Im not excited a little bit 4the up commin season 4this team.

I have some sage advice for you - kid. Lower your expectations and root for Rondo, Tony Allen, Gerald Green, Gomes, Powe, Jefferson, and Perkins to emerge..... Hope that Gabe Pruitt can play the point and Glen Davis loses wieght and adds muscle (I think Clifford Ray and Robert Parish can help there. We make the playoffs and improve one level each year and get to the Finals in 2011 (and lose to Portland in all likelihood so we can curse the May 22, 2007 day forever).

Anybody has an equal shot in the East. Did anyone thinking Cle would make the Final? I sure didn't. Every team in the NBA has holes. There is not a team like the '80s Celtics or showtime Lakers. Unfortunately, 2 drafts in a row the team selects in a difficult spot and Ainge discards the selections.

People really do underrate Ray Allen abilities. This isn't like we're picking up a Larry Hughes or a Ricky Davis of this league. We're talking about the one of the best shooters in the game. Not to mention, didn't he get the sonics in the playoffs in the western conference with a less talented sidekick than Paul Pierce? Lets not forget he never had an inside young inside presence like big al.
This team isn't a finish product by any means. Lets see what we have on roster by Octuber then, lets talk if we have a legit chance at being contenders. As of right now, we can make the playoffs with this roster but, the question is how far?

I am an optimist by nature and I feel that this team can be good.
First, we weren't anywhere near as bad as our record last year. If it wasn't for the injuries, we would have been much better.
Second, our young players are going to be a year older and a year better. By all accounts they are all working hard this off season.
Third, Ray Allen is still a heck of a player. I believe he and Pierce will fit together very well.
I believe tha Danny is still going to make a deal for another player. I don't think he will make another big trade but he may sign a back up veteran PG or he may go after another big in a trade. Check out today's post on LOY's Place for the options that the team has going forward.
