From what Ive heard, most people seem to think that there is another move to be made. should be an exciting next 24 hours in celtic-land.

If we send Al J for KG they better send us something else good too like Corey Brewer. I got news. PP, Ray Allen, and KG won't win the finals. They'd probably go to the finals but wouldn't win. Well. Maybe they'd win. KG and Perk vs Duncan is maybe a fair fight. Then it's PP, Rondo, and Allen vs Parker and Ginobli. Good luck. Well talent wise we'd be there. healthwise is another story. SA is also a team that has played together and knows how to play together plus they have a great coach in Pop and we have Doc Rivers.

We dumped a bad contract (wally), got an all-star, and didn't have to trade the core. All good.

I don't think there is a trade coming which will move AJ.
In a way, I'm disappointed, because I had hoped that DA would keep the pick and select a "big." Didn't have a clue as to who---Yi or Noah were my personal preferences, but what do I know? They are both 7 feet tall, which is promising.
Pruitt? What do I know? I guess he may replace West?
Big Daddy? We needed another big. Not sure Davis will satisfy that need. Talk about a "project"! Is the thought that you draft him, bring him in, and try to do with him what they have done with Perk? If so, could he be counted on to contribute?
Is Theo's back going to turn out to be a miracle which enables him to play credibly another year as a defensive presence?
Is Ben Pepper suddenly going to come running from Australia after all these years?
Is Scal going to morph into a front-line force?
Is Gomes going to morph into someone who can play the "good, big 3s" on defense?
Is anyone above 6'9" going to show up to play defense and block shots?
Are the Cs going to let the Prodigal Son have another chance to play PG?
In all the overseas scouting, did Wallace find a sleeper that he is going to leave for DA?

I have tempered enthusiasm for the trade for Ray Allen. He is a major scorer but flunks on defense. Looking at where the Celtics were, and getting stiffed by KG and Marion, they had to get another veteran or possibly lose Pierce. We added Gabe Pruitt who is another Tony Allen (they compare him to Monta Ellis or Devin Harris). Then at 35 we got Baby Shaq (I mean Baby Oliver Miller) Glen Davis of LSU. Perhaps Clifford Ray can make him a backup PF OR (Jefferson and Ratliffe to Minnesota for KG).
My feeling is that Boston will get another vet - namely Shawn Marion of Phx. Then they will add a veteran PG (Brevin Knight or Chucky Atkins) to round out there roster.
I'll miss Delonte West - Seattle did well to get him. At #5, the Celtics did lot like Yi Jianlain and judging by his - I won't join Milwaukee attitude - he is the Chinese version of Jerome Moiso.
Celtics earn a Gentlemen's C for their draft and trade performance tonight. They'll improve to a 35 to 45 win team next year, perhaps good enough to win the Atlantic Division and be one and done in the EC playoffs.
Teams to watch next year - Chicago, Atlanta, PORTLAND, Golden St, Seattle,

We dumped a bad contract (wally), got an all-star, and didn't have to trade the core. All good. let's be honest though, he's a former all-star who is in the twilight of his highly productive years. how many effective 34 year old guards do you know off? J-Kidd? and ummm mediocre or has been players.

Two things make me optimistic about Ray Allen (1) his numbers have been on the rise the past 3 seasons and (2) he for the most part has played in over 70 games a season throughout his career. The two previous times he missed significant games with injuries, he's bounced back with productive seasons (played in 50 games 98-99, but came back with consecutive 82 games seasons; played 56 games in 03-04, but came back with consecutive 78 game seasons). I'd be more worried is he has damaged ligaments in his ankles, but from what I've read, he had some particles removed, much like Al Jefferson has last off-season. The surgeries were in April, and he is said to be on schedule to be ready for training camp.
My inclination entering the draft was to keep the draft pick -- not that management asked my opinion. But I can understand why the trade was made and can see how it can work.
My first reaction to the trade was "too bad we had to include West in the deal." My next reaction was "how is anyone going to double-team Al Jefferson now?" We have a premier outside shooter, a star "in between" scorer in Pierce who can get to the line and shoot off the dribble, and an emerging low-post scorer who will be that much harder to guard. Rondo will have more room to penetrate as the defense will be stretched, and with the positive reports on Tony Allen's rehab, we will in time have three standout defenders in Allen, Rondo and Perkins. How far we can advance will depend on how quickly T. Allen, Rondo, Al, Perkins, Gomes and Green can develop. But now these players can pick up some quality experience playing minutes in games with playoff implications, rather than getting PT on a team going nowhere.
It is interesting how we managed to keep Ratliff's contract, thus openning the possibility of a trade-deadline deal if we indeed are contending for a playoff spot. And we may be under-estimating the entertainment value of a Ray Allen - Allan Ray backcourt. Tommy's call on that would almost make the trade worth-while.

We dumped a bad contract (wally), got an all-star, and didn't have to trade the core. All good. Fair enough, but we also gave up Delonte (whom I think will be very difficult to replace) and the 5th pick, who could have been a help at a position of need for a decade. And we get back an injured 32 year old. BOTH of Ray's ankles had surgery. All we need is for ONE to go bad. It's just a horrid trade today and will be till we see him running around doing great. I do think that both he and PP are sort of a young 30 years old, because neither has played tons of playoff games and they both played 3 years of college instead of leaving from high school, but both have put in summers on TEAM USA. I do think we are entering a time where guys will play decent till they are in their mid 30s. For example Steve Nash is 33. And when a 30 year old slows down from 26 ppg, if they slow down to 20 ppg that's still good, but geeze. We now have a two year time frame to succeed. I think the biggest thing that can happen for this team os for Perk to rebound and have a mini-breakout year. The next biggest thing is for Rondo to geta shot, then we have to replace Delonte, and Al has to become an all-star. Toom many ifs. We were only 2-3 seasons away anyway. Now we have to be one or two. One is out of the question, so we have A LOT to do in two years. It's a lot of ifs.
