Successful Scenario
Due to Phoenix and Boston being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Phoenix and Boston had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

I think Phoenix really wants to dump Banks back on us. That is the poisen pill for accepting Marion for the #5. I still don't believe Marion will like coming here at first but if the C's get off to a good start maybe the chemistry with Paul Pierce and Alan Jefferson can result. Marion might enjoy working with Rondo, even. Banks is horrible but he has time to improve and become a reliable backup PG. Kurt Thomas a veteran big man hand up front. Now the onus is on the Celtic management to extend Marion and accept the luxery tax.
