I thought Shawn Marion was too old and too $$$ til I saw how litle the Celtics would actually lose in this trade: www.hoopsworld.com/article_22312.shtmlVery informative break down from Jessica C. from HOOPSWORLD.

That's a pretty sweet lineup. Rondo, Pierce, Marion, Jefferson, Perk. Like they say we should easily win our division. I don't think losing the 5th pick is small potatoes though. I'm really like Noah a lot recently and if we can Lewis and Noah vs MArion what is greater? That IS a lot to give up imo. But getting Marion gives us a very good starting 5.

I'd say Marion is greater. Why? couldn't Lewis and the #5 pick contribute more than Marion. well statistically speaking probably. But you win in the NBA with great players. Marion is a all-star and a better player than whomever the pick is and Lewis. When a team has great talent on the team, it picks up the play of the other players too. Either by drawing more defensive attention, or by leading by example in practice or by setting teamates up to score easier. Marion's skill level is light years ahead of Lewis and will be way ahead of any draftee for at least 3-5 years. The Celts have been in building mode for 4 years, time to stop drafting potential all the time and move ahead. that's why I'm for any trade to aquire a talented player. Sure Lewis and the #5 will give us more years of service, but Marion would help the Celts to achieve more IMO.
I honestly think the Marion trade is rumor and speculation and has little to no merit. So long as Ainge does something other than just draft someone with the #5, I'll be a happy camper. If the Bulls are really in love with Yi or someone else, perhaps trade down to the #9 and get Chris Duhon in return.

You are assuming MArion is better than anyone we pick will be. The 5th pick in the draft could land us an allstar. I like Marion and all and he is an allstar but he is a complimentary player in a lot of regards. Noah could be really good imo. He plays with tons of hustle ala a marion and could be just as good. I think he will be good right away too with the way he plays.

If the Bulls are really in love with Yi or someone else, perhaps trade down to the #9 and get Chris Duhon in return. You don't trade top 5 lottery picks for a back-up PG and drop 4 spots down. If you're going to make that trade atleast get a starter in return plus add the lottery pick as well. Or, force them to take a bad contract (i.e. Wally).
