I've been having foot problems for some months. Today I finally understood my Asian foot doctor---finally ---to be saying "planter faci...." And I thought, holy crap, I've become a p rofessional athlete. Then I felt some genuine sympathy for Perkins for playing with that pain.
I'm guessing that he is going to be well and be a horse next year.

I just heard it refered to as the new basketball disease. Plantar fascititus (sp?) has hit a number of big name basketball players recently.
Hopefully Perkins is fully recovered from this foot injury.

ironically enough, the right shoes would fix this.
I moved out to Banff Alberta 10 years ago to live in the rocky mountains by working at the Banff Springs Hotel. I did tons of walking on hard marble floor in the $40 special black shoes. I got plantars Faciitis and it was brutal. Mine would kill me for 15-20 mins in the morning when I first got moving, but once I worked it in, it was okay. Anytime I took a break off my feat though it would tighten up. Swimming and a hot tub helped with it. The Dr. told me to go to redwing shoes in calgary and get work shoes there. I got a $180.00 pair of shoes an within 2 weeks my feet were fine. I'm sure NBA players have it worse than I did, but maybe shoe companies are making cheap shoes, or the players are not getting new ones often enough...

Larry Hughes sat out game 3 of the finals with plantar fasciitis. Tim Duncan had it last year and missed like 40 games and wasn't very effective in the games he played. It has to give you some respect for Perk playing through the pain. The papers reported just the other day that his foot is feeling fine and there is no more pain. I really truly expect Perk to break out this season and surprise a lot of people.

This has been going on in baseball as well.
Too bad Perkins, West, and Allen can't keep off the DL. I know I'm missing others, maybe Jefferson and Gomes.... What is the issue with "todays' athlete"? Week after so much work? Is there an off-season anymore? These jocks might just need more time down to recover from the past season.

My theory on Plantar Fasciatus (spelling?), since I was diagnosed w/ post tib tendonitis in 2004 (both injuries are similiar) is caused by the make of the shoes. 20 years ago, neither injury was prevalent. Now, these type of injuries are at an all-time high.

As I said too RR, "it's gotta be the shoes!"

Here is some good news about Perkins from rotoworld.com:
"Kendrick Perkins is no longer dealing with pain in his right foot.
The plantar fasciitis he dealt with for most of the season appears to have finally been eliminated. Perkins has been working out steadily since the end of the season as he tries to trim his weight in the hopes the foot injury won't reoccur. He may be the main beneficiary of the Celtics' lottery blues, as with Greg Oden not a possibility to land in Boston, Perkins should remain a key man on the team and have a much better chance at significant playing time." Hey Mev.
Good to hear Perk is healthy. That's what we are going to need. Fully healthy and improved, I think he will be an asset to the ballclub. He's an excellent defender and a hard worker. He and Al are working together this offseason, and I really hope he beats up on Al. I say this because I want Jefferson to learn how to play against physical defenders and succeed.

As I said too RR, "it's gotta be the shoes!" There is something different w/ today's shoes. Myself, a runner, never had a foot injury until 2004. Basketball, plantar fas and patella tendonitis (and yes, I have had that injury as well - back in 1999) are probabaly the most prevalent.
