For the record, Foyle, MacIlvaine, and Brian Cardinal never did impress me with their skills, and they certainly didn't deserve those contracts. Erick Dampier is actually a good Center, but he certainly doesn't deserves his contract.
Darko is a 22 year old who I see has a lot more upside than any of those guys ever did. I don't want to pay a ridiculous price for him, but if 5 million is his market value, I wouldnt' hesitate giving him a 6 million dollar contract.

I'd say his market value is around 7million, and odds are he'll get more than that.

I know that around the trade deadline one exception expired without being used. I am not sure about others.

It does matter that a GM and Owner were willing to pay these sub-par talents big money. It means that most likely someone will offer Darko insane money too.

Someone is going to gamble on Darko. Dont' be shocked if someone drops a Nene type contract on him. I say he'll receive 7-8 mil per either with Orlando or a team like Atlanta taking a chance he'll develop into a special player.

I think now the best plan we can have is to call Chris Webber and Rashard Lewis and tell them "If you play for us for the MLE we can almost certainly go to the finals and if you beat Duncan there you're an instant legend" and hope that tricks them. Lewis will immediately laugh at us and say "I'm looking for something called money." Webber would laugh and say "The Pistons are 200 times more likely to play in the finals next year, plus I could just go play with Duncan now"
There are no free agents that can help us. Maybe if an older vet like PJ Brown is willing to take a cool million. That's it. This year is over. 7 seed is pretty much the ceiling. No way PP and Ray Allen are better than Gilbert and Antawn J. So you better hope AL J averages 20/10 and Ray and PP are themselves. In that case we can maybe be a 3 seed. Big whoop.

I hope we go after Pollard this off-season. we need a back-up 5, and he'd fit the bill for close to vet minimum.

Rather than be hasty, and lock up a veteran we do not need, save the money, and invest the money into signing another player we do need.

Orlando has made a qualifying offer to Darko so they may try to resign him. We would have to outbid them to get him.

Do we know how much they offered Darko?

If I were DA at this point I'd just give up on the whole big man thing. I'd just think AL J, Perk, Gomes, Powe, Scala, and Davis will have to be it. Maybe, just maybe Ratliff can contribute for a year to get us over the hump to a young draft pick next year. Hibbert, Thabeet, and Lopez are all predicted in the 10-15 range next year. But maybe we can do something where we go for a really good swing and tell him if he can just put his desire to start aside he'll get tons of minutes. Maybe we could do a sign and trade for Gerald Wallace. The Bobcats want Rashard Lewis, and Vince Carter opted out, so maybe considering Tayshaun Prince gets 7 mill we can pay him 8 mill with the understanding that Ray and PP are kinda old. Do a sign and trade. That's a pretty good rotation. Then sign some random vet like PJ Brown to just rotate a little with the big men.
The other thing I'd do is call the Blazers and ask about LaMarcus Alridge since they just brought in Channing Frye. Maybe they'd do an Alridge for Davis/GG/Minn's future 1rst type deal. If not maybe we could get Frye for less. Powe, and TA.

I'm about to drop a bombshell that will change the way you think about Celtics basketball: That's right, ladies and gents, Scot Pollard is a Boston Celtic. The guy that I've been trying to sell to DA is now wearing the green. I don't know about you, but this season is already a win for me. I cant wait till we see the first pre-game footage of Pollard and Scal rolling into the stadium in primer colored 59 caddy.
