There seems to be a lot of disharmony among Greeniacs about who we want with the 5th pick--some like Yi, others don't, some want Brewer, others want Noah, etc. Well, maybe we won't have to argue about who we should take with our draft pick. There's a lot of trade talk going on for our 5th pick, and maybe a deal will come along that really suits us.
Any bets if we will trade away our pick?

half of me says seeing as how DA made kind of a risky trade with the 7th pick he'll do something with this one. Especially seeing as how money driven it seemed. This half of me also thinks DA has no fear of picking lower cause he always picks well and figures he can find someone just as good later, like he always does. half of me thinks he really wants to pick cause he's never had such a high pick in a deep draft and never will again.

Speaking of which, heard a rumor that the Celtics would trade the pick, and Ratliff's contract for Z Randolph. That is risky.

Say no to Zach Randolph. I wouldn't sign off on that trade. Besides, seems like he's Chicago bound.
I think the pick may be traded away in a package to bring in a star veteran player.

Here is my idea:
To Seattle: Paul Pierce, Sebastian Telfair, Tony Allen, #5, 2 future #1's
To Boston: Ray Allen, Luke Ridnour, #2
Seattle has survivability issues going on - like they are going to leave the city in 2008. Stern won't stop it either. He does not like the Seattle politics that will not pay it's dues to the NBA hype machine that the commish has created. Does Durant want to go play in Seattle and be overshadowed by Oden? For christ sakes Seattle is operating without a General Manager.
From Boston's perspective - Pierce's run is effectively over. Ainge has screwed Pierce to no end - wasting his prime years by putting a very poor team and a very poor coach around him. Ainge needs to find a punching bag to trade with and Seattle is a top punching bag.

I think that trade comes down to
PP for Ray Allen (I'd rather have Allen)
Bassy for Ridnour (crazy)
And TA, #5 and two future #1s for Durant (I don't think so)

Allen of Paul?
why? The only thing he does nearly as well is score. and he's not known for being mr. clutch either. he's a very good shooting guard and that's it.
Paul helps the team by being a leader, passing for easy buckets, clutch shots in close games, rebounding and drawing attention when the C's are on offence.
what does allen bring to the table except outside shooting?
the trade won't work, because once Seattle gets Durant in for a private workout, they'll stop taking offers for the #2.

trading for Randolph is a huuuuuuuuge risk. dude either has serious attitude problems or he's easily influenced. either way it's too big a risk to bring in someone to do what Al Jefferson already does. Score in the post and rebound. Al is twice the defender Randolph is too and Al is medicore at defence.

I never thought of PP as a leader. A leader actually runs. A leader doesn't openly campaign for bad long term moves like trading AL J for Iverson so he can get a shot to be a 4 seed for two years.

well, like a lot of very good players in the league who have been losing for several years, it wears down on them. I mean he was in the playoffs for several years, they had a team that made the conference finals and then boom, it goes down the tube over the next couple of years and he's playing for nothing. He is getting to the last few high level productive years of his career and he realises it. So he's a little surly and grumpy with the losing. Show me an all-star who doesn't act like that when the losing mounts.
if the c's start winning next year, Paul will be back to his great self.

I wouldn't say he's playing for nothing. He plays for millions. I'm so tired of grumpy multi-millionaires lol then you're following the wrong sport. Find me a losing star who isn't upset. They just take the money for granted.. unless they think they're not making as much as the next all-star. Then they percieve it as a lack of respect. You just can't let the money get to you. we the fans are dumb enough to pay to watch them play. So long as we pay, they'll get their millions. I mean the NHL cancelled an entire season and the fans packed the arena's (in Canada of course) as soon as they came back. If I had a say it in.. the fans shoulda boycotted the first ten games. Make the players play in empty arena's for a few weeks and if they're really playing hard then the fans would come back. That would have been a leson to the owners and the players.. but no, we're idiots. try MMA, hardly any are multi-millionaires and they're very fan accessible. I looooooooove MMA.
