I think that both Rondo and Green have what it takes to become stars. I think that possibly even Tony Allen has what it takes to be a star. Al is already well on his way to becoming a star. I don't think we need to trade for a star. Just continue to grow them. Also Perk is going to be a solid center who could play for any championship team.

A #5 pick is supposed to be a star player. I think Rondo is way more than a role player. If Delonte is a role player, that's fine but he's a role player the way Bobby Jackson ws for the Kings or Toni Kukoc was for the Bulls and you just really need those guys and they aren't easy to come by. I think guys like GG are way easier to come by.
I also think guys like Gomes (guys that play like a #9 guy, but get paid like a #11-12) are also hard to come by.

The team needs another star player. Players 3-14 are role players. Danny has done an excellent job upgrading the roster from d-league players (from Carr, Pitino, OB, etc) to role players. However, he has not brought in (free agent, trade, etc) that "star" player that would allieve the burden Pierce feels. Note - Jefferson is the other star player (#2). I always thought Tony Allen would be the third star behind Pierce and Jefferson. I contend the solution is in house - we need to stop getting injured and Doc needs to step up and coach to win. I also think Rondo is a star in this league for us. I had my Green Koolaid nutritional drink this AM before going to work. The #5 pick could be Al Horford (say no to Chinese Brad Lohaus) to star along with Jefferson. ...... So you have Horford, Jefferson, (Pierce or Green), Tony Allen, and Rajon Rondo and with your deep bench - should get you back to the 40 win plateau with continuous improvement, thereafter and a showdown with Lebron James in a future month of May. As far as getting back to the NBA title...... Danny or the next GM will have to hit a grand slam on trading Pierce. That ought to be difficult as very champions have gotten their title through trades and FA acquisitions for their primary players. I guess Detriot managed to do it in 2004 and the Lakers benefitted tremondously from the Kobe and Shaq deals. Danny has not done will with his trades and FA signings but he was never in a position to do so. IN SUMMARY: THE ONUS IS ON THE PLAYERS AND COACHING STAFFS WE HAVE TO FIND VICTORIES NEXT YEAR ONE GAME AT A TIME!!!!!!!!! NO MORE POSITIONING (TANKING) FOR FUTURE SUPERSTAR PROSPECTS WITH THE 1ST, 2ND, OR 3RD PICK. THE FANS OF CELTIC NATION DEMAND VICTORIES AND NOT EXCUSES OR SIDE SHOW MARKETING. ;D
