This is a carry over from a discussion Celtics Blog is having.
I guess Gary Tanguay said that if we land the #2 pick (which would be Kevin Durant), Pierce wants us to trade it because he doesn't want to wait for Durant to develop (I guess develop his slim body)--he wants to start winning right now.
Scenario #1
Trade the #2 pick (Durant) plus others to make the salary match, for Garnett. Maybe Durant + Ratliff + cash for KG.
Scenario #2
Keep the #2 pick (Durant) and trade Paul Pierce to Minnesota for Kevin Garnett. If McHale wants us to throw in another player to make it happen, so be it, as long as it isn't Jefferson.
I can't believe Pierce is saying this. I mean, Durant is a special talent and could very well surpass him in 4 - 5 years. Is Pierce thinking about the organization and what's better for the long run, or is he just in it for himself?
He and Durant could be the most lethal SG/SF combination in the league (as long as they are sharing the ball), maybe in history if he can wait 4 more years.
I understand that Pierce is tired of losing and he's roughly got 5 - 6 good years left in his tank. But I certainly don't want to trade away a star talent who will be an All-Star for the next 12 years just to satisfy an aging Pierce who's only going to be around for another half decade.

I wouldn't do a deal like that involving Durant. I think he may impact the NBA more than anyone since Jordan.

No thank you. I'll take an 18 year old Durant over 30 year old KG. KG is awesome, but not enough to give up a player of durant's caliber.

I agree with fresh. PP has to realize he basically missed his shot, he can't lead a team to the finals, and now he's along for the ride. He should be really nice to AL J the way older guys like Kenny A and Gary P once had to be nice to him

If we get Oden or Durant, they will be put on our untradeable shortlist along with Jefferson. I wouldnt trade Pierce either allthough (with durant) i wonder if they can share the ball sufficiently between the 3 of them.

They will certainly have to learn how to do it in order for them to combine their abilities to win us some championships. Kind of like how the Florida Gators all sacrificed their individual accolades to reach their utlimate goal(s) of winning the NCAA tournament (twice).

don't think the first two pick will be traded for anyone. well maybe for each other. i'm tired of hearsay as well, so if pp says it publicly i believe him saying it otherwise i just refuse to belive him saying it
