I think in such an important game as these semi-final playoff games are, its just not the right thing to do to suspend such key players as Amare Stoudemire and Boris Diaw. If anything, suspend them at the start of the next season. So the better the player, the more lienent the NBA should be on their conduct? It wasn't a judgement call. That's the beauty of how the NBA is handling this. They have a rule in place. The players broke it. They were punished. If you start saying, "well, its such a big game, and Amare is really good so maybe we should. . ." then it becomes a judement call, and an incredibly slippery slope as well. Then you have to get into impossible situations like trying to judge a player's intent, etc. Amare drug an assistant coach halfway across the court with him. you'd think that may be an indicator that he should sit his !!!GREENIAC!!! on the bench. I just cant believe how much coverage this is getting. The players broke the rule didnt they? Why is everyone outraged that theyre getting suspended? When hasnt the NBA been a ballbuster when it comes to fines? Does the rule suck? Yes it does. I think the NBA should allow players to police themselves more on the court. Nothing aggrivates me more than watching an NBA game where the ref thinks he or she is the center of attention. that being said, the rule is in place. the players know it. if they break the rule, they should be ready to suffer the consequences.

I think when the games are this important, you let the players play. The Suns were majorly handicapped tonight because they were missing 2 very key players. I would have been very upset at Amare if he didn't do anything after seeing his captain get whacked into the sidelines--I'm glad that he showed that kind of loyalty and respect to his fellow teammate. Stu Jackson should look at it from that point of view, and realize that Amare didn't go out and confront Horry face to face, and realize that the series shouldn't possibly be determined because he suspended 2 very important Suns players in a pivotal game such as Game 5 of a tied series. The Suns lost a close game and are down 3 - 2 now.
I think an exception should have been made, considering the circumstances, and the players should be suspended at the start of the next season..

Every time someone leaves the bench it is because they are coming to the aid of a teammate. Amare's reaction was the same as every player who makes the mistake of leaving the bench. Did the other five players that didnt race over to the fracas disrespect their teammates? I dont think so. Amare and Boris made a mistake. Why should Stu Jackson have to do anything but enforce a rule that has been in place for close to 10 years? he didn't make a mistake. Amare and Boris did. They know the rules. They chose to disregard them and in turn handicap their team in a pivotal game. With this rule in place, players have to realize theyve got to wait until theyre on the court to get some payback.

During the playoffs, energy levels and the sense of urgency are much much greater. There should be some leniency towards the weight of these games, versus, say a game played in the middle of December. If this exact incident happened in game 23 of the season, by all means, suspend them. But when the game is this important, and when every single game is so crucial, you have to let the players play.
