Ainge says he (they) have a list of 12 players of 6'7" and taller who they think would be great fits for our team. Let me guess who these 12 are:
Oden Durant B. Wright J. Wright Jianlian Hibbert Horford J. Green Noah Hawes
Hmm.... I'm stumped after these 9. I'm tempted to say Tiago Splitter, Jason Smith, Nick Fazekas, Aaron Gray, and Al Thornton could be on the list of 12, but I'm not quite as sure.
Well, at least we know that whatver happens, Ainge will get someone he really likes in this draft, even if we draft with the 5th pick.

It seems like Danny is interested in Yi. I am too, but he is more of a face the basket type of center, forward. From what I've read he sounds like a GAsol type of player.

Because Yi is able to face the basket and play the perimeter game, its logical that there would be an interest on our part. Ainge does seem to favor big men who can step out and hit shots outside the paint.
Plus Yi is an excellent athlete for a 7 footer, and that's another trait Ainge likes.
He spent some time in China, so I'm sure he's got a good idea of Yi's talents.

Hey Boston folks, what is the Chinese population like in Beantown? I remember something resembling a mini Chinatown when I visited Boston in '04, but can't recall seeing many Chinese, or Asians, in the city. If Yi comes to Boston, I guess we can expect an increase in ticket sales due to the Chinese populus coming out to see their fellow countrymen.
Just thinking right now, of how a combination of Yi and Jefferson will work? The high/low set up of our two big men will work nicely because Yi can knock down jumpers, giving Jefferson some wiggle room in the paint. And Yi and Jefferson will give us 2 of the quicker big men in the league who can play the uptempo game.

Very small. There is a nice little chinatown but there isn't a huge asian population in Boston. that said Dice-k is a big hit, but I was at his opening game and was expecting to see a bunch of japanese and the only asian person I saw was my friend who was sitting next to me. I also saw Yao Ming at the fleet and it wasn't like there were a ton of chinese people lining up to see him either.

yeah but imagine the number of celtics stuff they're gonna sell in china in case yi becomes a celtic. i assume he becomes an allstar immediately as well because of fan votes

That's right, BC. Yi will be an All-Star simply because of the popularity contest. There are a lot of Chinese basketball fans in China, and they'll prove their loyalty.
But on the actual basketball side, how would you guys feel about Yi Jianlian in a Celtics uni, assuming disaster strikes and we land the 5th pick?

I'm biased (negatively) towards Yi and Yao, but from a basketball perspective I don't want someone as skinny as Yi or as soft as Yao. I also don't want someone that has to play every single summer for the Chinese National Team instead of working for us.

There is actually a pretty decent sized Asian population, but not as big as some cities and Chinatown is relatively small.
