Wow, oh wow, I hope we get Greg Oden because this lineup looks unbelievably good:
-------------Greg Oden------------- Al Jefferson------------------------- -------------------------Paul Pierce ---Tony Allen------------------------ --------------Rajon Rondo--------
Tony and Rajon give us an incredibly athletic and defensive minded backcourt combo who can create offense with their defense and force turnovers routinely--and they also give us fantastic slashing options.
Jefferson and Pierce will be our primary offensive weapons, and they'll both give us 20+ points each.
Oden will alter and deflect a multitude of shots near the paint and in time, he'll provide solid scoring to give us 3 big scorers.
Ryan Gomes has earned the 6th man role, and I expect him to be a big scorer off the bench--on top of providing solid rebounding. His scoring off the bench will be key.
Add in Perkins, Wally, and Delonte off the bench, and we have pretty solid veterans coming in to relieve the starters. Powe and Gerald will continue to improve and show terrific growth. And if Allan Ray and Sebastian Telfair are with the team (and I believe they will be), we have more young talent who should be able to contribute.

Yeah, I love the idea of that lineup. The one that does worry me about that lineup is having two guards on the court that cant shoot. but you gotta love that D.
I still hope we explore a trade for a vet PG (paging Mr. Bibby). I'd like to have a guy like Bibby to make play-off charge now, and it cant hurt to have Rondo learn from a guy like Bibby for a couple of years.

I dont know much about bibby's character, but i think he'd be great fit, talent and contract-wise. he can come in and give us 2 years of top notch PG work. then we hand the keys to RR. Plus, after watching AI and carmelo ripping the spurs a new one with the PnR, I salivate at the idea of Bibby and Pierce or Bibby and AlJeff doing the same thing.

Buy in 3 years, Doc hasn't been able to get the pick and roll into our game. And I don't think it is all the players.

I love that lineup. Let's keep our toes crossed. That's exactly how I would like t his team to shape next year best case scenario Derren. We obviously need to get the #1 pick and TA and WAlly need to come back healthy. That's basically a solid 9 man rotation, with Green and Powe increasing time if WAlly or TA, GOmes, Perk, etc get hurt or cant go. Scal is still the 12th man. Say we end up with the #2 pick, there's a possibility we could flip flop picks so we still get Oden, because we do have some assets we can trade. We could maybe offer Ratliff as a salary dump to memphis to swap picks. They get Durant and a Salary dump, we get Oden.

I'd like to see Ainge try and pull that off! Heck, I'd like to see any Gm have the nuts to do it.

Of course, in a perfect world, Rajon and Tony will be able to knock down jumpers at a good clip. But their defensive pestering should balance that out by the amount of fastbreak points they'll help usher. But if its more shooting we need, Doc can call upon Wally, Delonte, and Gomes to provide it in a pinch. Rajon's and Allen's slashing skills will give us another dimension to attack on offense. With Jefferson and Oden posting in the paint, commanding respect from defenses, Rajon and Tony will get a fair amount of opportunities to score as they slash past them and receive the hand off pass. Pierce is also good at finding slashers as the cut into the paint.
I agree FL, Doc either doesn't care for the pick and roll, or else our coaching staff is incapable to teach our players this basic tactic. Its really a shame that we don't know how to execute this fundamental part of team basketball.

If anything, having those two in the post will make it more difficult for those two when it comes to driving. What it will do is give them an unlimited supply of open jumpers. What worries me about having those on the court at the same time is that it allows other teams to send there guards down to double Al with impunity. Whoever are guards are down the road, they need to be able to be able to hit the open J with some regualrity. Lets hope rondo and allen work out the kinks on their J. I know I am saying this for the umpteenth time, nut this another reason why i think Bibby is the perfect fit. He allows Rondo to mature w/o the scrutiny of being the starting PG.

i agree with fresh about bibby. no other elite pg in the league would have as big impact on this team (nash is not available and billups would be too expensive and too long of a contract, everybody else is too often injured). bibby has two more years in which he could teach all fundamentals tricks about to rondo (AND DOC as well). rondo would take bibby's starting role soon enough anyway

What would we be giving up for Bibby? I'm sure they will want atleast Rondo or Green in return for him. Not saying he's worth that much but, I have to look at the Kings point of view. It's nice thinking about grooming Rondo out but i can't see the kings trading Bibby away and not getting a good prospect like in return.

The King's need just about everything, and will be starting from scratch w/ the exception of K-martin.

Most situations call for a guard to feed the post and then move away so that his man doesn't double up on the post player. When either Rajon or Tony do this, they will slash past Jefferson or Oden, and if the play is open, they will receive the hand off and take it to the basket for a layup or a dunk.

Something to think about. If we don't get Oden or Durant, and Pierce decides its time to go to greener pastures, there are ideal situations for a trade to flourish.
Pierce doesn't just want to go to any team, and Ainge won't trade him to a team within our division. But if we look at the opposite coast, Golden State makes sense. 1st of all, its in Pierce's backyard. 2ndly, Pierce gets to play with his buddy, Baron Davis. 3rdly, the Warriors are in the playoffs, and adding a star like Pierce would boost their strength. A starting trio of Baron Davis, Paul Pierce and Al Harrington is hard to pass up. The Warriors can move Stephen Jackson to the bench, where he can flourish as a key bench player.
The reason why we would accomodate Pierce's desire to jump ship is to get Pau Gasol. If we don't land Oden or Durant, we can still improve our team this offseason by acquiring Gasol. He's a proven veteran who puts up All-Star numbers, and he's still young enough to be with our core young players for many years.
Memphis is looking to trim payroll and rebuild around young talent. They have already started accumulating some young talent, but need more. We have some trading chips, and so do the Warriors.
This may be something to look at, once our draft positioning is set.
