Put in your choices for which Celtic deserves the team award for common and some uncommon NBA Awards. Some choices are obvious some are not.
Living in Canada, I admittedly only saw a handful of games because the C's don't get much coverage. I saw 4 vs the Raptors and 2 others that were broadcast here. I even got to hear Heinson give out his Tommy points a few times ;D
With that said, most of my picks are influenced by stats and what I read online.
MVP: Paul Pierce - not only for his obvious contributions to the team, but also because of how poorly they played without him. Shows how much easier he makes it for others to succeed when he does play
Defensive Player of the year: Al Jefferson - because of his rebounding, ability to block shots and he also get .7 stl/game too. Tony Allen was on his way to getting this one until whoopsie. Rondo has done a stellar job this year too once he finally got some regular PT from Doc.
Most Improved: Al Jefferson - really doesn't need much explanation does it? Love his low post game, one of the more rounded post players in the league.
Rookie of the year: Rajon Rondo - Another obvious choice. If only Doc hadn't burried him on the bench early...
6th Man: Ryan Gomes - Allen's injury allowed for West to start more, Rondo was sat for too long, Green is too inconsistent. Reall with all the injuries, it hard to identify a 6th man LOL.
Ideal Starting Five: (when everyone is healthy)
C- Perkins by default
PF- Al Jefferson
SF - Paul Pierce
SG - Tony Allen
PG - Rajon Rondo
6th man - Delonte West
Biggest disappointment
Kendrick Perkins: Lots will say Telfair, but I wasn't personally surprised. I though Perkins would have a stronger year after having a year with decent minutes under his belt, but he's not really progressing as quickly as I woulda thought he would.
Surprise Player of the year
Tony Allen - after starting off slow, Allen really started to put it together before the season ending injury. If he can get healthy this summer and start strong, he'll be a big reason for any improvement. Rondo was better than advertised too.
alright let's hear your choices.
Add a category if you think I missed one.
