Yeah, the Tigers are doing a good job of keeping themselves in the game. Hope they don't beat out the Buckeyes because I want Oden to go all the way so that he won't feel the need to stay in college another season to win a title. It may go either way. If they lose he may feel the need to come back to win a title. If they win, he may feel, like Noah did, that he needs to come back to help them repeat.

Win, lose or draw, Odin is coming to the NBA. Noah was that rare exception. He came from a prominent family and there was no need for money or fame. There are no arguments that can counter the threat of a serious injury and even looking at Noah's case, it did cost him quite a bit to stay in school, as his draft ranking has dropped.

Wait a second. Noah was from a prominent family but the rest of the Gators weren't. And what if Oden or Durant just plain like college? What if he likes being a bmoc, likes class, liked the tournament, has a girlfriend or 3 (hundred), likes college bands, and isn't into the whole dancers/hype/light show that is the NBA? Duncan stayed. Maybe he gets himself an insurance policy and stays. My guess is that at least one big name surprises everyone. Gentlemen's bet either Oden, Durant, Hawes, Noah, Horford, Brewer, or the Wright brothers stay. If that one guy is Oden we'll be smacking ourselves. In fact I think 2 of those guys will stay.

I LOVE the idea of Calipari comin here ;D. He's the only other candidate I've liked since I brought up the name of Billy Donavan ;D ;D. Eja, u gots 2be kiddin me, how can he NOT be better than Doc ? Doc's history has been 2take teams that are either avg-good and runnin them dwn in the ground. His stints in Orl and here have resulted in regression, I mean go back and look @his coacin record. Doc has shown absolutely NO ability 2coach talent, nor the propensity 2get it 2achieve and/or excell . I mentioned in another post no matter who u bring in here 2coach ur goin 2have 2pay him and he's another thing, ITS NOT OUR(our's bein urs and mine) MONEY!!!! A coach like Donavan, Calipari, etc is goin 2cost us. If u want 2send a message 2the team and 2the coach that the organization is behind the new coach 100% then u can't pay him johnny davis, ML Carr, etc money. Calipari has coached young talent and gotten it 2excell @2 schools both of which were absolutely nowhere b4 he came there. He literally built up both programs while he was there, plus we won't have 2worry 'bout violations in the pros, which is more than Docs done in his life, I mean Doc hasn't even gotten a high school team 2excell. Calipari's style is similar 2Donavan's in and up-tempo O and and aggressive D, WHICH IS WHAT THIS TEAM NEEDS!!!! ITS WHAT IT WAS BUILT 4!!!!! Rick Aldeman has only been successful w/more veteran team in his history, I dug up the facts and argued the same pt w/another Cs fan on the espn message board. He's not shown the ability 2get young team, LIKE WE HAVE 2excell. He's the perfect coach 4a team like Hou if they get rid of van gundy. We're not a team like his Sac teams OR his Port teams that were good. If u look @our team we should be playin the same style of ball that Memphis, Fla, and I know alllll of you hate him in Louisville, but Pitino play. THAT'S how OUR team is built. Id love 2c Donavan or Calipari here, I think it'd be a perfect fit 4the team.

Saw somewhere that Caliparo, when asked about the Kentucky job, said he was staying at Memphis, and that he really liked his team over the next couple of years.

Until proven otherwise, there have been alot of college coaches who couldn't make the transition to the pros. However, for some unknown reason, I think Donovan could do it.

Yeah, in today's news articles there was one where Calipari said he was staying at Memphis. There is also one that says that Carlisle may be the scapegoat for all of Pacer's problems. I sure would like him here if they do dump him. Adelman would also make a good coach as would Paul Silas. Bickerstaff has done a great job with the Bobcats and is available also.

Its official that Calipari is staying in Memphis--we can stop thinking about him.
From what JB said, it may be Adelman coming here (with Carill). Rick Carlise sounds good too. !!!GREENIAC!!! Harter may follow him here too. I'm not a fan of Harter's chaotic defense, but it works when executed correctly and we all know that we need to get better defensively.

meangreen, if successful college coaches are so desireable over the Doc's of the world how come both Pittino and Calipari fell flat on their faces when they coaches actual NBA teams? We aren't talking about John Wooden incarnate of Coach K here. Calipari isn't Dean Smith or Adolph Rupp. I mean why don't we just hire the General while we're at it. I'd love to see the General coach Latrell Sprewell. Hard to say who wins that fight. In the mean time Doc won coach of the year with a pretty bad Orlando team and has almost built himself a team here out of teenagers, which I seriously doubt Calipari could do.
