Starters:
Pierce - obviously
Jefferson - obviously
Perkins - has improved and wants to be outstanding. (Oden or Durant puts Perk on the bench)
Rajon Rondo - a brilliant young PG - just get a shot.
Tony Allen - need his athleticism and grit - a major player when he is right.
Bench Rotation:
Wally Z - need his 6th man scoring off the bench, backup SF.
West - 3rd guard behind Rajon and Tony Allen. Good Combo guard.
Gomes or Powe: Can't keep both players, hard for me to decide, Both have desirable attributes. I guess I am leaning toward Gomes due to experience. Powe maybe the bigger impact role playing PF, though.
1st round big (not named Oden or Durant)
Tradables:
Gerald Green, Scalabrine, Ratliffe (exp contract)
Does not belong in the NBA:
Telfair, Olowakandi, Allen Ray.
Additional needs:
-Tough minded PG like Acie Law IV, Brevin Knight and Chauncey Billups also work.
-Defensive players like Trent Hassell, Greg Buckner, James Posey, Desmond Mason, Luol Deng.
-Defensive and Rebounding big people - Joakim Noah, PJ Brown, Dale Davis.
-A new head coach
-possibly a new GM.
-health (probably the biggest need of all)
-a winning attitude - losing is no longer condoned (I said it last year, I know, but the Celtics need to shake that losing stigma, gonna be very hard for them if the lottery balls screw us and Ainge makes a panic deal this summer).
Next years success is far from guarenteed. Things have to break just right for the Celtics this off-season or I think it will be another long season next year.

Well we are pretty assured the 2nd worst record at this point. So we should get a top 3 pick. I'm guessing we end up with Durant, but who knows.

Even with the worst record, we could possibly end up with the 4th pick.
I think we need to get a top 3 pick. If not Oden or Durant, we gotta get Noah.

An interesting name to watch for is Antawnas Kavaliaskus of Texas A&M. Lithuanian. 2 years at a JUCO. Came off the bench last yeaar, but started this year. Low post guy with a good shooting percent. Good rebounder. 6'11". Probably a FA.

Never heard of him, but thanks. I'll keep a tab on this guy.

Anyone think Ratliff will be a useful player next year?

As a player or are you talking about his contract?
As a player, I doubt it. Injuries to the body are not like wine--it doesn't get better with age.
His contract may be useful, but only if we are trading for a player(s) with a big contract.

Seems like the shelf-life of an NBA players peaks in the early 30's, and by the time the player closes in on the mid 30's, they are damaged goods. Ratliff falls in this category. Though his contract is a good bargaining chip.

With that in mind, Pierce roughly has about 5 really good years producing the type of numbers we're used to seeing from him. We're seeing him in his peak right now.
