Fantasy scenario here. If both Duncan and Garnett are unrestricted free agents and both want to come to Boston, but we can only sign one of them, which one would you take?
Think about this because they play different positions. Duncan is a 5 (and I don't care if he's listed at the 4 because he plays like a 5) while KG is a 4.

That's a real though. They are both so good.

Probably Garnett - That guy is the complete basketball playa - Man he would propel the Celtics to the top of the EC if not the entire NBA.
Duncan is a terrific player and make the Celtics contenders but Garnett might make them CHAMPIONS.

I think I would go for Duncan.... He has won 3 rings and knows how to win... It would be something he could impart to our young kids whereas Garnett hasn't been there yet.

I guess if one guy were just going to fall to the sky onto our team, maybe I'd take Duncan cause I think he'd mesh better with Al J. I kinda think KG is better/does more things but that Duncan is more fundamental. If I were gonna build a team from scratch I'd rather build around KG, just for fun and cause I just happen to like him more. I wonder what their respective performances have been like in the Olympics and whatnot.

To me, this is an easy call. You go with Tim Duncan. He's a 3-time champion who comes through in the big games. He's a proven commodity in the playoffs. Plus, with him, you can actually play a frontcourt of him and Jefferson and not be undersized. If KG and Jefferson play together, you wouldn't have a true Center on the court.
