I dont understand why we took Perk off of Dirk. I understand Doc is trying to get some more offense int here with Delonte, Ray and Green but we are getting killed on the boards and Dirk is shooting over Pierce.

Powe was actually the best defender on Dirk. He pretty much shut him down. Perk was getting beat by Dirk in the 3rd. But Powe was really defending him well. Why Doc took Powe off Dirk is the better question.

West misses a 3. Green rebounds and lays it in but didn't get it in time. Final score is Mavericks 106 and Celtics 101. Good game for the Celtics. Mavs were playing hard and we gave them all they could handle. Losing to the Mavs on the road by 5 is nothing to be ashamed of.

Tough loss. We could have won this game. We had a rough patch in the 3rd quarter and we lost our 12 pt lead. But we still had opportunities to win. But can't cry over this one--we played the best team in the league and barely loss to them. It took Nowitzki hitting a clutch shot to keep us at bay. That's saying something about our guys.
If I were to nitpick this game, I'd say that Delonte should have shot the ball more. We need to do a better job of getting our shooters the ball (Delonte, Ray, Gerald, Pierce). For some reason, we went away from Jefferson in the 4th quarter. Our energy was poor in the 3rd quarter.
I did like that Gerald did not hang his head after going through some rough times--he's got tough skin. I like that Doc allowed Ray to stay out there in a tight game. Ray's beginning to find his shot (most likely getting comfortable out there and losing the butterflies in his belly) and that's going to be big for us.
I didn't think Rajon was playing poorly, but Doc excused him for much of the second half (same with Telfair).
Like CF said, Perk should have been out there guarding Dirk.

Saw the game tonight----first live Cs game. enjoyed it. My daughter---who doesn't know diddly about basketball---took me. No small task, as I'm hobbling on a cane while still recovering from being run over by a pickup which broke a leg bone badly and fractured a hip. Got tripped by a 6-year old as I was on the way to the bathroom.
More importantly to the game: I don't have good visioin out of the left eye, and wear tri-focals on the other. So my observations may be influenced by a lot of things.
PP scored about 19 in the first quarter, then not much until the 4th. He, AJ, and Perk sat with 2 fouls before the first quarter was over. Don't necessarily think it was a home job. I was surprised that the box didn't show a higher number of TOs. Cs were moving along pretty well in the 1st, then had about 3 in short order. PP is a good shooter. But he is a poor dribbler for a wing man having been in the league this long. At this point, I'm not sure I would be devastated if DA traded him. He doesn't have the instinct and vision of a Bird, thus dribbles into triple coverage.
General impression is that the team is a poor-passing team. Lots of time I thought the pass was made to an appropriate man, but without good timing or placement. Remember a game I saw in the year after whoever was running team decided against bringing DJ back. Was the year they got Ray Williams late in the year. Think it was Heinsohn who went ballistic in game coverage. Said it was obvious that Red wasn't running the team, or he would bring DJ back. Talked about DJ knowing when to pass to a guy, what position on the court a guy wanated to get the ball, and the placement of the ball. Tonight, for example, West broke the defense down and passed to AJ in gthe lane---but the pass was about waist-high, and AJ fumbled it. I think this is one of the problems that both Rondo and Telfair have.
Green can be a superstar. Not sure AJ can---really won't know until he is playing with a PG who can deliver the ball to him the way DJ did to Bird and McHale. Most impressive play fo the game for him: he got a defensive rebound, passed it to a guard, and beat everyone to the other end, where he got a pass back for a layup. AJ scored on a variety of shots: jumper, drive, slam, b ank shot.
Perkins has the best outlet of any big man the Cs have had in a good whiel, perhaps as far back as Walton.
Green his a number of jump shots which reminded me ofe Bird's curl. Seemed to me that he was rolling of a Powe screen.
If I NEVER have to see PP trying again to guard Dirk with the game on the line I will die a happy man.
Cs didn't have much of an inside-outside game.
With about 4 seconds left, West made an inbounds pass toward the bucket which Green turned into a dunk. Beautiful play, but almost too quick to see.
in the warmup, there was a tall African-American male in sweats (not uniform) working with AJ. Probably 30-45 minutes. He would pass the ball to him from the wing. Someone handed him another ball, and he did it again. Fed him a variety of passes. Swapped sides of the lane. Then he let someone else feed AJ, and he sort of defended him, mainly leaning on him some to give him the feel of pressure. I assume it was Ray.

I wouldn't say Perk was fast of foot, but he wasn't limping.
