Al in many ways sets the tone for this team. Pierce has been struggling and we need Al to play well on both ends of the floor.  Rondo is the PG of the future for this team but he is still young and has ups and downs in his play. But when he is up, he is capable of changing a game with his energy and court sense. His shot has been looking a lot better and he just needs more confidence to start hitting his shots on a regular basis. He always seems to play well against us and containing him will be a priority.  Josh Smith has come on strong this season just as Big Al has. He scored 32 points in Saturday's win over the Wolves and is capable of a double double on any night. Injuries Claxton - Knee day to day Johnson - calf out Notes:The Hawks won the last 2 meetings with the Celtics. Both were played with Pierce, Wally, West, Allen and Scal out of the lineup. Both teams play Tuesday night and so will be on the second of back to back games. The Celtics have a slight advantage being the home team. Hawks are 12-21 on the road. Atlanta is 4-6 in their last 10 games and Celtics are 5-5 in their last 10 games. If Atlanta's draft pick this year is not among the top 3 picks, they lose it to the Suns. Good reason to lose between now and the end of the season. They have won 4 in a row, however. Key Matchup vs Keys to the GameDefense We need to play defense and not just on 2 players, but the whole team. Hustle on the defensive end usually determines the intensity on the offensive end as well. Hustle The Bulls beat us to every loose ball and just out hustled us. We need to put out energy and effort if we want to win and not let them beat us in hustle points. Rebounding We have to hit the boards and grab rebounds. When we allow them to get offensive rebounds it gives them too many second chance points. It should be one and done on every possession on the defensive end and we need to be the team getting the second chance points on the offensive end. Ball Movement We won't win with players trying to do too much and forcing the offense. Pierce does it at least a few times a game. We need to move the ball and find the open man. |

Celtics must step up and get a win to avoid another 5 game losing streak. Lately they have been taking care of business in Boston against visiting teams below .500.
And for the most part, the road efforts have been good.
The defense has gotten slightly better lately but it is still nothing to write home about. The energy and hustle of the Celtics has been sorely lacking and Paul Pierce playing too many minutes contributes to that. Young Gerald must attack a lot more. I like the Rondo-West backcourt but I would like Rondo-TA a lot better next year. Telfair probably needs to be replaced.
If we can add Joakim Noah and Acie Law, our basketball IQ would double and our defense next year would be 1000 times better even if Doc remained as HC. Plus we get clutch play.
We need help from somewhere this summer.

The last 2 games we've gone away from Jefferson. Maybe because Ben Wallace was guarding him--but I think Jefferson was up for the challenge.
Need to get back to getting Jefferson the ball.
I would like to see Delonte continue looking for his shots. He looked good last night taking open jumpers.

Same starting lineup as last night. Perk, Al, West, PP and Rondo. Hawks win the tip. Hawks miss a jumper and Celtics rebound. West hits off the catch. Hawks miss and Celtics rebound and PP hits a 3. Rondo with a steal and Smith is called for a foul on Pierce as he got the ball inside from Rondo. PP hits both FTs. Smith takes it to the basket and lays it in. West goes to the basket and has it blocked. Williams takes it to the basket and lays it in and is fouled. He hits the FT. Rondo misses a runner in the lane and Al rebounds. Rondo misses a jumper on the baseline but gets his own rebound and passes to Al in the lane who hits a short jumper. Hawks miss and Pachulia grabs the rebound and puts it in. PP steps back and hits a 3. Rondo called for a foul. hawks inbound on the side. Smith misses a jumper and the rebound passes through several Celtics hands out to Johnson who hits a 3. PP is fouled by Williams. Celtics inbound on the side. Smith picks off the pass but it goes right to Delonte who takes it to the basket and lays it in. Hawks turn it over out of bounds. Rondo misses a floater in the lane and Pachulia rebounds. Rondo picks off Hawks pass and West misses a 3. Hawks rebound. Hawks miss and Perk rebounds. PP misses a jumper from the FT line and Pachulia rebounds. Smith gets past Al and lays it in and is fouled by Perk. He hits the FT. Al misses a shot in the lane and Hawks rebound. Smith misses a jumper and Perk rebounds. West flips one in with his left hand. Defensive 3 seconds violation on the Celtics. Williams hits the T. Hawks inbound with 14 on the SC. Smith misses and Perk rebounds. Al misses a jumper and Hawks rebound. Smith gets to the basket and dunks and draws a foul. Time out with game tied at 16 and 5:28 left in the first.

PP drives into the paint and lays it down to Perk who dunks it. Blocking foul called on Al, his second. Scal comes in for Al. Bad call. Pachulia flopped. He hits both FTs. PP called for a double dribble. Lue called for a travel. Geen comes in for Rondo. PP drives into the lane and spins to the basket and is fouled by Jones. Pierce at the line. Misses the first. hits the second. Green West, Scal, perk, PP on the floor. Childress misses from the corner and rebound goes over the backboard to the Celtics. PP called for an offensive foul as Lue runs into him and flops. Another terrible call. Hawks rebound. Ray in for Pierce. Lue takes it into the paint for 2. Perk gets the ball inside and over powers Williams and lays it in. Williams misses and Perk rebounds Good outlet pass to Westl. Ray misses a jumper. Perk rebounds. Celtics miss again and Hawks rebound. Lue travels. Powe comes in for Perk. Perk really played well. 6 rebounds in 11 minutes. West misses a jumper and Powe is fouled by Jones as he gets the rebound. He hits both FTs. Ray called for a foul as West goes flying and hits the ground hard. Lue hits the first. Rondo comes in for Powe. Hawks swap out a couple players. Lue hits the second. Celtics holding for the last shot. Rondo drives into the paint and finds Ray in the corner who hits a 3 with .3 in the quarter. Hawks don't have time to get a shot off and Score at the end of one is Celtics 26 and hawks 25.

Celtics inbound to start the second. Rondo's Alley oop to Green went through his hands out of bounds. Hawks miss and Powe grabs the rebound. Powe misses a jumper and Hawks rebound. Pachulia is fouled by Scal and goes to the line. He rims out the first. Hits the second. Ray hits a jumper off the catch. Ray called for a foul, his second. Ray, Rondo, Green, Powe Scal on the floor. Hawks miss and Powe gets the rebound. Powe gets the ball inside and misses a layup. He was hit on the arm but no call. ball goes out off Boston. Childress misses and Green rebounds. Ray hits a jumper off the catch. Time out with Boston up 30-26 and 9:32 left on the clock. Pierce was forcing things when he was in and I think by doing that he was hurting us more than helping.

Green steals an ally oop pass. Scal misses a 3 and hawks rebound. Smith gets the ball in the lane and lays it in and is fouled. He misses the FT. Powe battles for the rebound and it goes out off Hawks. Ray misses a jumper off the catch. Powe called for a foul on the rebound. Childress is fouled by Powe as he blocks the layup. Childress misses the first. PP comes in for Ray. He hits the second. Al gets a dunk after Smith flops and the refs don't fall for it this time. Rondo tips the pass away out of bounds. Pachulia misses and Al gets the rebound. Perk is in for Scal. Perk to Al and he misses the layup And Rondo goes between 3 Hawks and tips the rebound out to Al who lays it in and is fouled. He hits the FT. Perk called for a foul on Smith. He hits the first and misses the second. Al grabs the rebound. Celtics turn it over and Smith takes it in for a dunk. Sl misses the jumper over Pachulia. PP rebounds but throws it away. Smith misses a 3 and pachulia rebounds. Hawks miss and Al saves the rebound from going out of bounds. PP gets the ball inside for a dunk. Pachulia gets back and gets a dunk on the other end. Defensive 3 seconds called on the Hawks. Time out with 2:36 left in the half and Celtics up 40-36

Rondo with a steal. Bounce pass to West who misses a layup. Ball goes out off Celtics. Johnson is fouled by rondo, his second. Celtics are over the limit. Johnson hits both FTs. Al sneaks in under Pachulia and lays it in and is fouled. Al misses the FT and Pachulia rebounds. Williams hits a 3. Al hits a jumper from the FT line. Rondo's 9th assist. Williams has is blocked by Perk and Hawks called for a 24 second violation. Celtics inbound with 1.7 on the clock. Rondo hits a running 3 from just past half court to end the half. Score at the half is Celtics 50 and Hawks 41.

West's pass was too low and Hawks come away with it. Smith hits a jumper. Al misses a jump hook in the lane and Pachulia called for a foul on the shot. Al misses both FTs. Hawks rebound. Johnson hits a jumper. rondo with a high pass for Al and he has good hands and catches it. Al fouled by Pachulia Celtics inbound on the side. Al misses a layup and Smith grabs the rebound. West called for a foul. Johnsnon misses and Rondo rebounds and gets the ball inside to Al for a dunk. Hawks miss and Al rebounds. Rondo almost loses the ball but recovers and then throws it away and is called for a clear path foul. Williams hits both FTs. Atlanta inbounds on the side. Childress misses a dunk and Wright rebounds and has it blocked from behind by Al. Celtics miss and hawks rebound. Smith misses and perk rebounds. Rondo pulls up at the FT line and hits a jumper. Childress takes it to the hoop and lays it in. Rondo gets it inside to Al who powers it in. Al called for his third foul. Smith misses the first. misses the second and perk rebounds. West misses from the corner and Perk rebounds and is fouled as he goes up for the put back. He hits the first misses the second and Rondo rebounds. Al goes into the lane and hits a hook shot. West steals it from Childress and gets it ahead to Rondo who lays it in and is fouled. He hits the FT. Johnson misses and West rebounds. Al gets the ball inside for a layup. Hawks turn it over and Rondo is fouled on the break. Technical called on Smith. PP hits the T to push the lead to 20. Rondo at the line Hits the first and misses the second. Hawks rebound. West called for a foul on Childress. He hits the first and missses the second. Celtics rebound and miss a quick shot. Pachulia rebounds and Williams hits a baseline jumper Perk drives to the basket and is fouled he hits both FTs. It was funny to see everyone step out of his way as he drove to the basket. Hawks turn it over and Al gets it inside to Rondo for a layup. Al rebounds a miss. PP misses a layup. Perk battles for the rebound. Pierce comes up with it and hits a short jumper. Hawks miss and Al rebounds. Rondo with a behind the back pass to Al who is fouled on the shot. Time out with Celtics up 76-53 and 2:40 left in the 3rd

Tommy just compared Rondo to Nash and Kidd. I think he is excited. Al hits the FTs. Jones loses the ball out of bounds. West with a nice pass inside to Perk who dunks it. Lue hits a 3. Perk gets it to Rondo cutting to the basket and the ball slipped out of his hands. Williams misses from the corner and Perk rebounds. PP misses and Perk gets the rebound and lays it in and draws the foul. he hits the FT. I LOVE PERK!!! back to our regularly scheduled play by play.... West called for his 3rd foul. Scal comes in for Perk who gets a big hand. Stoudamire hits the first. Green comes in for Pierce. He hits the second. Green misses a 3 and Hawks rebound. Jones hits a jumper. Celtics looking for the final shot. Rondo drives into the lane and kicks the ball to Scal who swings it to Green who hits a 3 at the buzzer. Score at the end of 3 is Boston 86 and Atlanta 60.
