I'm sure that this has been posted in the news article Feb archives but I revisited the website just for s and g's.
Ainge was correct not to make any deals - simply because the May 20th date in Secaucus is a watershed day in NBA and Celtics history and that we need the last six weeks of the season to evaluate our roster. 1/3 of the season was completely lost due to Pierce's injury and other injuries. At this point I could take Danny or leave him, I don't really have an opinion - big plus over the way I felt a month ago.
Doc Rivers - Agree with the overwhelming majority of the media and our nation on Doc's fate after the season is over - He should be let go. Possible replacements - think outside the box.
Paul Pierce - He stays if we get veteran help like Gasol or possibly Garnett over the summer or if we get Oden or Durant. He maybe the next one traded if all the worst case scenarios play out - poor draft position, and we get stonewalled on the trading/free agent market.
Tony Allen - When healthy he is borderline All-Star. We need his energy and passion and athletic ability. I differ sharply on Mannix in my opinion of Tony Allen. Great find by Danny late in the 1st round.
Ryan Gomes - Nice player, better than Eric Williams. Good find in the late 2nd round by Danny.
Gerald Green - could be the player traded for veteran help. May also inherit Paul Pierce's role if it is determined that PP should be traded. It will be tough to carry Allen, Green, and Pierce on the same team.
Al Jefferson - must keep him at all costs - May be Karl Malone Jr one fine day. Use Ratliffe's salary if you have to.
Micheal Olowakandi - Who cares?
Kendrick Perkins - Need to really see what he is capable of when healthy. Regardless, he is an essential team member here and can be the perfect backup to Oden.
Leon Powe - nice story put on the same bus as Olowakandi - we will let FLCeltfan do some wirebrushing of Chris Mannix here. He has been screwed out of the rotation by Doc Rivers (remember that Dufus Doc troll in here that game against the Knicks who said, "Powe will never play for me").
Ratliffe - Well Grousebeck did save 20% plus the luxery tax by switching LaFrentz to Ratliffe in the offseason. Go have a drink with Vin Baker, my man.
Allan Ray - He is a cheap scoring threat - not too sure what else he can do.
Rajon Rondo - I like him as the future starting PG, but I think we need to bring in a FA veteran PG for two years - Chucky Atkins? Cassell before he is ready to roll.
Scalabrine - overpaid mascot! A nice reserve big man, seriously.
Sczerbiak - way overpaid and way too injury prone. Have to get as much scoring as we can out of him the next two years.
Telfair - Needs playing time to see if is useful. Does a good job on occasion. Probably not a keeper.
West - Beautiful backup combo guard who can shoot and play defense. Keep him but don't make him the Starting PG.
Ask me again in 6 weeks to see if I have a different opinion and this maybe posted on Loy's Place.
