I noticed that Allen got 20 again last night, on 8-17 shooting. If anyone saw the game in person or on TV, I'd be interested in an impression of his offense. Did he get it all through hustle plays like rebounds or slashing drives? Or did he get some of it from the outside---jump shots, plays, etc. If he is getting some shots to fall, his value to the team or in a trade would go up significantly.
Another question: it seems to me that his numbers have gone up greatlhy since he has been startings. Not just in total, but in terms of pts./minute. Any impressions?
Could have ramifications for Wally's role.

Tony Allen is "exclusively" getting his points from dribble penetrations, where he draws a lot of trips to the line. More and more, he's finishing his plays (an area he struggled with at the beginning of the year) and converting three point plays after drawing contact.
He doesn't take many jumpers, and this could be something that defenses give him. He's got a suspect jumper and if teams lay off of him to tempt him to shoot instead of drive, Allen may struggle. But that's why Doc needs to draw up plays for Tony to cut to the basket when Jefferson has the ball because Big Al gets doubled so often that Tony should be able to slide through the cracks and get open layups.
The biggest reason why Tony has found success is because his dribbling has become much cleaner. He's not sloppy like he was early on. If Tony can't dribble, he can't penetrate.

I think another reason is that Tony lacked confidence last year from knee surgery, and he is just gaining it back. At that level, confidence can make or break you.

He drives like a beast now. Allen shouldn't even think about taking jumpers if he can get to the ft line 7-10 times a game. Now, if he can cut down his turnovers we might have a desmond mason on our hands.

Yes, he must start cutting down on his turnovers. For the most part, his turnovers come in spurts, so that's encouraging. Sometimes, its due to the players on the court with him at a particular time where he feels he has to do more than he should.

One of today's articles h ad said that he got all his first-half points as a result of slashes and action around the rim. Kind of expected that. Kind of impressive that he is scoring as much as he is. Seens to me that it will be hard for him to maintain that, since I'm guessing that teams will be laying off of him. If he can score something like 20 points a game, and give his defense, then bye=bye Wally. Let Allen start, and back him up with West and Green.

Lot of people seemed to have soured on Wally, and I'm not sure why. He's been injured and isn't healthy yet. Doc is putting him in a position to fail by playing him so much. When healthy, Wally is a terrific shooter, who will knock down jumpers from a set position or off the catch and shoot. In a true uptempo offense, guys like these are valuable. Before Wally was injured, I felt he fit in better with our uptempo game than Pierce (that was back in the day when we actually "were" trying to play uptempo).
As for Tony, his slashing and his defense are much needed. He needs to keep it up.

Last night, at least 2 of his FGs were jumpers, one a 3.
