Down by 21 after 3 quarters. We are one bad basketball team tonight. Since I started following the game after half-time it's been mostly missed FTs, poor shooting, turnovers, and many trips to the FT line by the Clippers.

Steal and a dunk by LA; Celtics down 25 in the 4th. Wally only 2 for 8; Jefferson 4-16, Telfair 5-13. Perk was back in the lineup but didn't do much. Clippers shooting 52.5% of their FGs. Ugly all-around.

Celtics press in the back court and LA easily passes out of it. Davis takes it to the basket and lays it in. Telfair misses a 3. Thomas rebounds. Ewing misses a 3 and Celtics rebound. Celtics miss a jumper and LA rebounds. Offensive foul on Clippers. Time out with 2:48 left in the 4th and LA ahead 95-72. I really hate these announcers.

Celtics inbound and bring it up. Celtics turn it over. LA misses and Korolev lays it in. Powe is in. Celtics miss a jumper and LA rebounds. LA misses and Green rebounds. Green hits a 3. Davies misses and Green rebounds. Kandi is booed loudly as he touches the ball and he turns it over. Rondo called for a foul trying to recover it. Ross hits both FTs. Telfair is fouled as he drives to the basket. He hits both FTs. Korolev is fouled. He hits the first and misses the second. Green rebounds. Green misses and Singleton rebounds. They dribble out the clock and final score is 100 -77. This was a difficult game to watch because of the terrible announcers along with the terrible play of the Celtics.
It was a bright spot that Perk, Kandi and Wally came back. All three looked a rusty and weren't very effective but I am sure that will improve with a couple of games under their belts. Poor Kandi was booed loudly every time he touched the ball. This was a very ugly game for the Celtics.

Here are my game thoughts:
--not really an excuse, but this our second game of a back-to-back on the road, and we played a good Clippers team (don't let their record deceive you).
--Jefferson had little room for error, as he hardly had any touches without seeing a swarm of double teams. He got swatted away 3 times in the opening minutes of the game and Elton Brand and Chris Kaman was eating him alive. But considering how young and inexperienced he is and his effort going up against 2 really good big men (Brand is one of the league's top shot blockers), I give Jefferson a good grade for effort. Getting a double double (10/14 and 2 blocks) against the Clippers' frontcourt, with little help from the 4 spot is good in my book.
--if you cannot bear watching this team lose, now is not the time to be watching us play. We are going to continue stinking it up. We are so young and young teams get eaten alive in the NBA. We aren't going to play well until the kids start developing cohesion and chemistry out there, and this will take some time.
--we had a very good 1st quarter, and so so 2nd quarter, and an ugly second half. The 1st quarter was really encouraging, considering we came back from an early 10 pt deficit to cut it down to 1. Credit given to both Tony Allen and Telfair. Allen was getting to the line on every possession, blowing by his man with a lightning first step and getting to the front of the rim. Telfair was being aggressive, knocking down jumpers and driving to the hole. They brought the team back. This just goes to show that we need to be an attacking and uptempo team.. We have quick and athletic players and we have playmakers on the team. Its a combination that can work if Doc chooses to utilize it.
--I don't know why, but Doc chose not to use Tony Allen for a big part of the 2nd and 3rd quarter, precisely when we started to fall apart. Tony was a big part of the reason why we fought back in the 1st quarter, but was relegated to the bench. Foul trouble or not, Doc could not afford to keep him out for that long and it costed us dearly.
--Wally was looking real nice in the 1st half (he was forced to try and create his own shots in the 2nd half, and he got in trouble). When his shots weren't falling, they were going straight, but hitting the front of the rim. All this means is that he needs to get just a bit more lift from his legs. Give him a couple more games and he'll be fine. He will be big when his shots start falling.
--one play that has potential to be highly effective is when the ball is fed into Jefferson on the left low blocks. The guy who fed Jefferson runs back toward the top of the key, pulling his defender away from Jefferson, allowing him to go one on one. As this is happening, Wally dashes from the opposite side of the court, running under the basket, past Jefferson, and then running out to the three point line. If Wally's man decides to help out defending Jefferson in the post, Jefferson passes out to Wally, who usually knocks down jumpers when he has time to set his feet. If Wally's man doesn't help out, Jefferson is still left with a one on one situation, which is a good situation for him.
--Gerald is playing so tentatively. He's got to attack and look for his own shots. He's being too passive, and he's not making good decisions because he's forcing passes.
--I don't understand Doc's reluctance to have guys use the pick and rolls. Gomes can be so much more effective on these plays. Telfair and Rajon can be so much more effective on these plays.
--Doc needs to run catch and shoot plays for Gerald, Wally and Allan Ray. Run plays where they have a chance to succeed.
--Powe needs to play. All Gomes is good for right now is knocking down 18 footers. I appreciate it, but we need physical rebounding in the paint and some blocked shots more than 18 foot jumpers. On a night where Jefferson could have used help on the boards, all Gomes could muster was 1 measly rebound. That's unacceptable.

Celtics look too much like a pick-up team. No strategies just see who can score some points doing one on one plays. If we keep playing like this, Doc better be canned by the end of the season.
