It seems the infusion of Allen and Jefferson have revitalized our team. It is not by coincidence that the two injuries to Wally and Perk have helped change our rotation for the better. And ole Scals (Gomes injury) may be our lucky charm. If nothing else. But the interestng thing is Allen may be aware of his sub-par shooting skills as he ends up slashing most of the time and drawing tons of contact. Which sends him to the line (76% FT). The only other guy who does that more effectively on our team is Pierce, only he can shoot. Imagine if Allen ever got a consistent shot going! Just thought I put that out there. It seems to be one of those "elements" Derren is always talking about that can help us win.

Definitely. Tony Allen is another player (as is Rondo) who is a jumpshot away from being an All-Star. As good as he's been lately, he's only attempted a handful of jumpers--most of his points come from slashes to the basket and free throw attempts. And if it ain't broken, no use in fixing it.
But there will come a point in time when teams will start to back off on him and force him to shoot the ball, and we'll see how Tony handles it.
Versus the Bobcats, Pierce was slashing to the basket and finding Jefferson, and Al had a couple of easy dunks because defenses would crash the paint to bother Pierce. If Tony can do the same when he slashes into the paint, we're going to find a bunch of easy points that way.

Can you imagine if Perk (and Gomes) didn't go down with injuries? Would we be seeing Jefferson breakout like he has? My conscience tells me no. He'd still be getting 15 - 20 mpg.

AJ should be able to gete 30-35 mpg even with Perk. 15 plus at the 1, and the rest at the 2. I can see AJ putting in most of his time at the 1 against fastre, more mobile teams (phoenix), and Perk getting most of the time at the 1 against physical teams. It will take 20 games after Perk gets back before their 2 roles are worked out. Who starts at the 1? What happens if, by chance, Kandi comes back and plays an energetic defense with some rebounds and blocked shots? I personally would like to see a rotation which has 3 big men in it. Know that there is a lot of love for Gomes, but I'd prefer to have AJ starting at the 4 and some physical rebounding and defense at the 5. i could be happy if Gomes could become a Don Nelson clone.

Well, despite a lot of injuries, even before the start of the season, and the current injuries to Gomes, Wally, Perk etc., the others who have come back off the IL are helping us win games. It seems key pieces have come back to restore our faith considering the flashes we saw in preseason.
Now, if we can get Kandi in quality back up minutes playing with desire, we can seriously play against teams like Miami. Also, I really hope to see Green make some strides. He should be able to showcase himself with Wally injured. Delonte is seemingly finding his role.
It looks great so far. Knock on wood.
But, what about Gomes when he comes back. There is no doubt Gomes can score and rebound, but is AJ the better option or is it a non-factor if we sit Perk instead (I vote sit Perk)? Does Wally come off the bench behind Tony Allen? I mean come on, it is working out well!
I don't know I have more but I cannot get it out right now. I guess you all can take it from here.

Tony Allen and Rondo both can be effective midrange shooters. And when that happens both players are keepers.
I want to see a SL of Perk, Jeff, PP, TA, and Rondo eventually (after the AS break?).
