Here's Jefferson's stats and a list of Bigs in the east and their stats:
Al Jefferson: 12.4 and 8.8
Eastern Conference Bigs (PPG and RPG):
Jermaine O'Neal: 21 and 7.5
Chris Bosh: 20.5 and 12.2
Dwight Howard: 17.1 and 12.7
Emeka Okafor: 15.4 and 10.7
Shaq O'Neil: 18.4 and 9.8
Zyldrunas Ilgauskas: 10.4 and 6.3
Eddie Curry: 18 and 7.3
Nenad Krystic: 14.7 and 6.8
Rasheed Wallace: 14.1 and 6.3
Antawn Jamison: 19.2 and 7.2
Udonis Haslem: 8.6 and 7.4
Antoine Walker: 13.4 and 5.6
Drew Gooden: 8.2 and 7.5
Antonio McDyess: 7.6 and 6.1
Ben Wallace: 4.7 and 10.5
Donyell Marshall: 9.5 and 5.6
**Keep in mind that Jefferson is just starting to rise to the occassion, while many of the heavy hitters are already proven commodities**
Compared to the eastern conference big men, Al Jefferson ranks 6th in rebounds (only in back of All-Stars Bosh, Howard, Big Ben, Okafor and Shaq).
In scoring, Jefferson ranks 10th, behind of Bosh, JO, Shaq, Howard, Jamison, Curry, Okafor, Krystic and Rasheed. Jefferson's scoring has come alive the past 7 games and his scoring average has been climbing fast. He could move up to 7th, jumping past Okafor's 15.4, Rasheed's 14.1 Krystic's 14.7 averages.
In a couple of seasons, as Shaq and Big Z retire or their numbers start to decline, Jefferson could claim his stake among the top 4 big men in the East, along with JO, Dwight Howard and Chris Bosh (possibly Eddie Curry, if he ever gets his head on straight). We're only beginning to scratch the surface of Jefferson's potential. He's capable of being a 20/10 guy nightly, as he has been lately.
Periodically, we'll update this thread and monitor Big Al's progress.
