Lets take this time to breathe a bit. I honestly think we are the frontrunners to get Iverson, but Ainge is not going to give up Al or Gerald to make it happen. No doubt that Philly is asking for either one of them, or maybe both. They are rebuilding for the future and once they get rid of Iverson, they will look to dump Webber (maybe this summer). They will build around Iguodala, Dalembert and all the young players they get in return for Iverson. They are probably hoping to add Jefferson to their young core because a scoring PF is important.
If Ainge gave in and offered Al or Gerald, Iverson would already be here. But being that he isn't, that's a good sign that Ainge will not offer either of our two young studs. Good job, Danny.

Allen Iverson is not walking through that door. Screw it. Let's get behind Paul, Wally, and the kids. No trades please. Also, Doc seems to be seeing the light (maybe because we are winning in spite of him). Since the Memphis debacle, the last 4 games have been quality Celtics basketball (save that 2nd half against the Bricks - but we salvaged that). We won't beat the really good teams but we will compete against them and learn something. So I think the team is back on track.

You know what I think would be interesting would be if we traded for Iverson, then him and PP can't get along, which therefore gives us the opportunity to trade away two selfish players. Can you imagine if we put PP and Ai on the block at the same time? I don't think any team has ever put two stars like that on the block at the same time. I wonder what we could get for them. I assume teams would only want one.

Minnesota could win the Iverson sweepstakes, if they are willing to part with Randy Foye. This name is significantly tied to the 76'ers because it was Foye who was instrunmental this summer to bring Iverson here. They wanted our 7th pick to grab Foye--whom we did draft--but it was pre-arranged for us to draft him and then immediately trade him to Portland for Telfair, and they in turn would send him to Minnesota for Brandon Roy. We were never going to draft Foye because if this confusing arrangement hadn't been agreed on, McHale was going to take Foye with the 6th pick. There was no chance for us to land Foye, and so the Iverson deal went down the tube.
They're still interested in him (he played for Villanova) and if Minny gives in, they can have Iverson.
