I really sense possibly Danny Ainge's biggest move yet coming this season. I think DA will make a decision on what direction this team needs to go in. Trade all of the vets (including Pierce) and start from scratch and play the young kids. Build around Telfair, Green, Jefferson, etc. or package 3-4 of our kids (Al, Gomes, West, Green, Rondo, Telfair, etc.) for a shot at Gasol, JO, KG, etc. Something big will happen maybe by mid-season. Maybe even before. We just can't keep losing like this. Youth is no longer an excuse. We are taking steps backward. We are not going forward. It is embarrassing as a fan. Personally, I am sick and tired of all of the losing. EC Finals a couple years back was a tease. I really never thought that we would take steps this far back by breaking up that team. I am becoming impatient, and I know a lot of other people are as well. Our young guys will "never break out" if they don't get the minutes they need to get better, and having guys like Raef, Blount, Scal, etc. play ahead of them has stunted their growth considerably. The reason that Billups, Joe Johnson finally blew up and became legitimate NBA stars is because they received valuable minutes....none of this 15-19 minutes a game crap. They received 30-35 mins per night. I'm telling you. We have TOO many young guys. We need to trade a few and just play the other guys extended minutes. We need to get rid of Tony Allen to make room for Gerald Green. We need to get rid of Scal, and possibly Theo to make room for Powe and Big Al. Al should start. Gomes should come off the bench for now. Delonte and Green should be the first to come off the bench for the swingmen. Telfair needs to play 35 minutes a night. Rondo can get the rest, and learn slowly. Doc needs to step up his coaching considerably. Something needs to be done and I have a feeling DA is going to make something happen in the near future.

I think our blockbuster trade will include Pierce. He must look at our situation and realize that signing that extension wasn't the best thing for him to do.
I don't think Ainge is interested in trading away our young assets, who happen to be our future core players. He's come so far to acquire all this talent to build the team around and they are the types who fit in well with our system. He may get rid of some of them, but I doubt Jefferson, Green, Rajon and Telfair are going anywhere (alright, there's a chance that maybe one of them will go).
If Pierce hasn't already asked for a trade, I'm sure he will at some point this season.

Unfortunately, when you draft a high school player, or a PG, it takes years to wait. Being patient. The team wasn't. Now, we are being patient (well, really patient).

I don't remember the Lakers having to be so patient with Kobe, or Orlando with Howard or the Suns with Amare. Or the Sonics with Rashard Lewis. Being patient crippled the Bulls waiting for two high schoolers that never became good. Toronto was patient with T Mac till he demanded a ridiculous contract so they let him go cause there weren't enough basketballs to go around for him and Vince. I don't see people criticising the Pistons for not being patient with Korleon Young or the Spurs with Leon Smith. I think this whole "youth isn't an excuse" thing is partly true, but I think you have to go player by player and ask yourself "are they helping you win" Currently the answers are
PP yes Wally yes when he isn't dribbling in the last 30 seconds of a game Bassy yes Perk no Al yes TA no GG isn't getting a chance Rondo isn't getting a chance Powe isn't getting a chance Scala no Kanid no Ray isn't getting a chance Gomes yes West no
Now tell me what's wrong with the picture? We've been patient with several of these players and several have rewarded us and some haven't.

I agree eja. DA needs to analyze the roster. Those who are productive, keep them and give them MORE minutes. Those who aren't productive, trade them away.
We cannot keep EVERYBODY. Keeping all of them will stunt all of their growth, while trading away some, and keeping some will substantially help their development and hopefully their stats and production will rise, while the other players production will rise with another team.
At least it will help our team to form a chemistry, and be more consistent with the lineups so that they can better gel and form an actual unit/nucleus ala Phoenix, San Antonio, Dallas, Detroit, New Jersey, etc.
Maybe this is what Ainge is thinking. Maybe he has his own idea of who is staying and who is going already???

Ainge has built this team like a college recruiting class. Simply, he out recruits the talent he has, or parlays it into better talent. Now, he has to figure out who to keep long-term, and who to drop. And, who to keep long-term, he needs to revitalize their growth.

I think DA also needs to look at who is helpingus lose. And I think that is Doc.

Well, I guess it is time to think about trading Paul Pierce. But to whom and for what? My guess is that Pierce will be traded to a good team with a chance to go play for a championship.
The Bulls do not fit Pierce's criteria. The Celtics do have to take back at least 80% of his dollar contract value or 13 million dollars. Also they need to cut future liability so they can resign some of the young good players at reasonable salaries.

The problem, I see is that we have to take back veterans with high dollar value and less productivity than we already have. Hence, there is no real solution for this season (except change the coach, of course). What we need to is improve our chances for future seasons - not diminish them. Hence, we need to improve our salary spreadsheet to be more flexible and to pick and choose who we keep.
I like Szcerbiak, Ratliffe, and Scalabrine to Philadelphia for Chris Webber and Kyle Korver......
Reasons - We get a veteran former Allstar who next year is on the final year of an over 20 million dollar a year contract. That is huge. Plus we get a 3 point sniper that will benifit from a good inside out game.
Philadelphia gets more help up front and a good offensive player to go with AI.
This is a fair and equitable deal for both sides.

Next solution:
Boston trades Pierce and Tony Allen to Memphis for Eddie Jones, Memphis #1 unportected, and Rudy Gay.
We end up with:
PG - Bassy, Rondo SG - West, Green, Allen Ray SF - Gomes, Gay, Korver PF - Webber, Jefferson, Powe C - Perkins, Kandi
Plus we have our #1 and Memphis #1 and an excellent chance to get two franchise players on top of the talent we have.
I know, I know!
I just turned over our roster. Unfortunately we have to.

And in regards to the trade, I'd hope we could get more for Pierce than Gay and a what would probably end up being a mid first rounder.

FL posted a hoopshype article that says that Denver has interest in Pierce and Delonte. In the past, we know that there were rumors of Andre Miller and Nene coming over, and maybe that's still a possibility, though now may not be a good time because of how well the Nuggets have been playing with one another.
With Kenyon being out for the season, I doubt the Nuggets get rid of Nene. If they do, they'll probably ask for a big man in return.

That trade would be a bad trade for us. For one thing we have Rondo. For another Bassy has been doing a fine job, especially given the circumstances so we don't really need a point all that bad. Also Andre is significant;y older than them. Also we better not get back JR Rider, I mean Smith in any trade with them. we had Ricky Davis already. I just don't like this idea.

I wouldn't mind Nene, but I'd pass on Miller. He's getting old real quick and isn't a long term solution. If we are getting him to mentor Sebastian and Rajon, I can see the benefits. But I know that Doc will abandon both young guys and run Andre to the ground.
