Getting hammered at home by a pathetic knicks team. The knicks play zone the whole second half, and the celtics look like they dont have a clue. NBA teams are supposed to eat zones apart. Zones basically say you cant play man to man.
Then i heard on tonight telecast that kendrick perkins said the team was cocky going against the bobcats. Please explain what does a 4-6 team have to be cocky about. That little winning streak was just a mirage. This team is still in serious need of a real coach. These last 2 games was just another illustration.

You have to look at the talent and say to yourself "Does this team have the talent to be better than our record" and I have to say the answer is yes. they have the talent. TA, West, Perk, Al, Green, and Bassy aren't less talented than last year and now they have Rondo, Powe, Ray, and a healthy Wally too, along with what should have been a happy PP after his extension. They are still very young but at this point the fact that every single young player is improving slooooooooowwwwwwwllllllllllyyyyyyy, is ridiculous. The league is passing them by cause Doc isn't coaching them or putting them into positions to succeed. The talent is good enough for maybe a .500 team reaching for the playoffs give or take. Instead they are one of the worst teams in the league. And look at the players who are improving at a respectable rate. Gomes and West. Gomes played at a major college for 4 years and was doubted by all the scouts so he is mentally and emotionally stronge enough to deal with this crud. You can maybe put Powe in the same place. If guys like Powe and Gomes are beating out guys like Al and Perk something is wrong. Same for West beating out a Rondo. Same for maybe Bassy beating out Rondo. The same can be said for years down the road. If a guy like Ray becomes more important than a GG that is a seriously big problem and this is the exact kind of team where that could happen. West I think was also a junior when he came out and did everything the hard way which is why he can deal with this too. And that is why I have always liked West and Gomes. AS BACKUPS. If a Rondo or a GG or an Al or a Perk is a backup for 3-4 years something is very wrong. Maybe one or two of them can't play as well as we thought but not all of them. Which makes us wonder why TA isn't playing better. He played 4 years of college ball. First of all he is proof talented swing men grow on trees in this league. He also has injury and legal issues.

I didn't get to read your entire post, Eja, but I do agree with you that we have more talent than our record indicates. Doc Rivers is not getting the most out of his talents, and one of the biggest areas where I am mightily upset with is his lack of utilizing our PG's strengths. Rajon and Telfair are open court players who know how to create plays. This I have no doubt about. But Doc insists on taking the ball out of their hands every time down. We always go into a set halfcourt setup even if we bring the ball down in a hurry. THIS HAS GOT TO CHANGE!! Why bring in Telfair and Rajon if we aren't going to use them to freely create plays for others? That's their strengths. If we are just going to play halfcourt basketball, Delonte was perfect for that.
But that wasn't our agenda going into the offseason. We decided that we were going push the tempo and utilize our speed and athleticism and thus we got Telfair and Rajon. But Doc has gone away from pushing the ball and we are looking so HORRIBLE plodding along with our halfcourt offense.

even if we are going to go half court I think Rondo could still play more minutes. I see Telfair putting out 110% effort to run a half court which is great except for the fact that even with 110% effort he still can't really do it. Maybe some day, but not yet. And he gets ok stats by sheer force of tons of minutes, but he's working too hard to lose. West and Rondo can help him.

We've yet to see Telfair or Rajon shine on this team like they have the ability to do. Telfair is getting the bulk of the minutes, but he's not being allowed to use his speed, ball handling, passing ability and creativity. How can he when the ball is always being taken out of his hands? Same with Rajon--the guy is a super penetrator and has crazy creativity but all we run are halfcourt sets and that does nothing for his natural game.
They need to be given the keys to run this team and dictate the offense--not Wally, not Pierce. Right now, they both handle the ball distribution a lot more than our PG's. Our PG's need to be used to set them up, not the other way around.

I think Doc knows his days are numbered. He didn't sound too happy during the press conference.
Right CF. And the players have also seemed to tune him out as well. Delonte and Perk even seem to be playing with less fire, and they are two of the bigger self starters we have on the team. Its like they sense its hopeless. Actually, that's kind of how the team's vibe is currently--hopeless. No sense of urgency at all.

Oh, sorry CF. I accidentally hit 'modify' instead of 'quote'. My bad.
