PP misses a straight away 3. Morrison rebounds and is fouled. Powe finally gets in the game with Green and Ray. morrison hits both FTs. Telfair takes it to the basket and lays it in. Time out with 12.5 left in the 4th. Cats up 90-83

We lose this game because of lack of energy. Guys were too willing to settle for jumpers and walk around the court rather than play their tails off to beat a team we should have beaten. I am so disappointed that this team still doesn't understand that they need to be playing hard against every team. We aren't good enough yet where even if we are playing at 75% we can win against lower level teams.
I also place blame on Doc. He struggles at times with making the right decisions during games. He should have brought in an energy unit to jumpstart our dead team. But instead, he kept the same team out there and we just couldn't get anything going. He needs to realize when a combination of players aren't getting the job done and make the adjustments to bring in a better working group of players.
We need Telfair and Rajon attacking the basket. We settled for too many outside shots and it just wasn't falling.
Jefferson had a nice first game back. His offense did not look rusty at all and he did a good job of fighting for rebounds.

Carroll is fouled on the inbounds pass. he hits both FTs. Telfair's 3 sticks on the corner of the rim. Jump ball called. Powe wins the tip. and Time runs out in the game.
Cats win 92-83. I put a good deal of this loss on Doc. He let the players settle for outside shots that weren't falling all night instead of making them drive to the basket. He didn't play Powe all game even though he has been coming into the games and bringing energy and defense. And he left the starters out there way too long even though they weren't playing well and didn't seem to have the energy and weren't playing very good defense.

Yeah the C's didn't play a great game but easier said than done when you have Okafor back there swatting shots. Charlotte is a pretty tough team defensively. It was the Adam Morrison show pretty much.

Exactly right FL. I feel the same way you do. Doc didn't do his job and the players didn't do their job. There goes our winning streak and it didn't even seem like a big deal to the team.
You know what was evident in this loss? We have no leadership on the court. Lot of people would like to believe that Pierce is a leader, but he really isn't. He may act like a leader every once in awhile, but that's not what being a leader is all about. A leader is someone who will pull his guys together and light a fire under them when they aren't playing well, and do this every game if need be.
No one seemed to care about this game, and that is unsettling. We had no life out there and no urgency to play hard.

They don't have Larry Bird who's not going to settle for a loss but how many players are there like that? I thought the C's played hard, they just were making too many mistakes that were forced a lot of the time by the bobcats. Rondo was all over the place and Pierce was diving for loseballs, I don't see how you can say that. The way the NBA is nowadays there aren't players like that imo. It's all about talent and which team is the most polished. And the C's aren't that right now. The Bobcats played a better game than we did. I honestly think you are asking way too much out of Pierce Derren. there is not one player in the nba if you put him on the C's that he carries this team to a championship.

And that's why we should have been attacking the basket, IMO. We needed to get Okafor in foul trouble (boy, I still wish we could have drafted Okafor, and Felton and Morrison too for that matter. The Bobcats are drafting all the college players I liked). We should have been attacking and attacking, and then when Okafor has to sit on the bench after picking up 3 fouls, we should have kept attacking so that our perimeter game would have opened up.
Pierce is excellent at drawing contact and I'm sure if he would have attacked the basket more, he would have gotten Okafor in trouble. Jefferson was scoring off of Okafor, but foul trouble limited his time on the court.

Hmm.. we seem to have a different perception of this game, CF. I thought a lot of the guys weren't playing hard at all. Their body language wasn't telling us that they wanted to win this game.
But maybe that's just me. Take what I say with a grain of salt because I'm just upset that we lost this game.

I agree the Bobcats have a nice team. I wish we had Okafor too. Morrison and Felton look really good as well. The Bobcats are better than we are right now. Telfair in particular really needed to step up and get to the hoop tonight and he did not do that. Pierce was trying to, but they were swallowing him up, because noone else was going to the hoop. Telfair should have been to take some of the pressure off of him, but he wasn't because he is inexperienced. Wally tried but he is not that type of player, he has no hops and every time he did he got swatted. The bobcats were keying on Pierce every time he went to the hoop.

What we need is Gerald Green to become a slasher. He is way too young right now though and he was clueless out there. That's not Doc's fault though. He's just way too young to be able to take it to that kind of defense when you have Okafor and wallace and all those guys the bobcats have. Same goes for Telfair. Rondo had a couple nice drives at least and Pierce as well. But that's all we have right now.

Da Bobcats have a great nucleus, however the Celtics need to win these type of games.

We could have won it if the team played like they are capable of. The starters just didn't seem to put out effort. Even Perk seemed a little tentative and that may have been a combination of the pain in his foot along with knowing he had to stay out of foul trouble. The bench played with much more energy but Doc insisted on putting his flat starters in. A little Powe would have gone a long ways toward bringing energy but once again, Doc's rotations make me shake my head and wonder.
