I can hardly believe it ... a solid defensive effort for two games in a row. Good to see the role players putting together consecutive solid games.
Now for that elusive three game winning streak ... bring it home eddietours!!

Wow, what a turn around in our play as of late. And it all comes from the defensive end. In the last 4 games, our defense has really improved and we are only giving up approximately 91 ppg (which would rank us in the top 5 in the league in fewest points allowed if we take out our other 5 games). Our turnovers have also been drastically cut.
Everyone played well this game. Even Brian Scalabrine is playing a fine role as a hustle player who does the dirty work. It seems like our chemistry is really starting to gel and everyone seems to be on the same page.
Excellent game and its nice that we are building upon our win vs. the Pacers. The Knicks are up tomorrow and I hope to see more excellent play from our guys.

Wow, don't you hate it when you type up a massive post and then the computer dies!! I'll keep it short, as it's so long after the game and I'm too angry to type it again (and we lost)! I've just come back from Italy and missed out on watching this match, which I was really keen to see, so that I could gloat at Derren after we beat the Celts... well, that didn't happen... Positives for the Blazers: 1. We managed to score 2 more points on you guys than the Pacers did! 2. LaMarcus Aldridge is back and looking better than I expected this early! 3. Jarrett Jack has been controlling the team better than most people anticipated. We did lose this one without Brandon Roy and while it's a pretty sad excuse for a loss to say that your rookie was out, he really has held the team together well early on (especially on offense). I guess you guys will be looking for a big win against the Bobcats next up. Good to see Bassy played well in this game -- even if it was against the Blazers! M

Hey there, Mookie. How was Italy?
Well, from my standpoint on your Blazers, Zach Randolph is a load to handle. The guy is super talented offensively, but there's something missing. You guys would be well suited to get another big time player to be co-captain along with Zach. Also, once Roy and Martell get their feet well planted in the NBA, they will help to spread the floor and give some breathing room for Aldridge and Zach.
Also Jarret Jack needs to be used more for his offensive abilities. I watched him quite a bit while he was at G-Tech and he'll be much more impactful when he plays like Sam Cassel (the guy I think he most plays like). He has that type of game.

Italy was great, thanks Derren. The weather was awesome -- sunny and hot every day, and this is the northern hemisphere in mid-November!
I agree on Jack. He has definitely proven that he can do a good job offensively and often shoots at a very strong percentage when he is an offensive contributer. I think we definitely do need that second strong presence offensively and that is lacking at the moment with Brandon Roy out.
The sad thing is, Darius Miles was meant to be that second star and look how that has turned out. We threw all of that money at him and he and Z-Bo were meant to be the rocks of the franchise for a long time.
Z-Bo has been awesome -- you're right. He definitely came out this season with a hunger that many fans outside of the Blazers weren't expecting.
I'm still not sure on Webster. He has a great stroke and appears to have some decent defensive ability, but whether he will be a star or just a 12ppg shooter, is not clear.
Aldridge and Roy are definitely the two keys to fit around Randolph. A few years and another key offensive piece and the Blazers will be looking good.

I never cared for Darius Miles. I really hate it when he does that inverted wrist pumping action on his forehead when he makes a good play. Shaq and Vince can do it and get away with it, but Darius should just knock it off.
Hey, how did Randolph get the name Z-Bo?
As for Martell Webster, he won't be an All-Star. But I can see him being a big role player on your team. Sort of has a game reminiscent of your current coach Nate McMillan.

Yeah, I've never been a fan of Miles' either. It always used to infuriate me watching him do that knucklehead wrist-pumping thing with Q-Rich back in their LAC days. He's the poster-child for unfulfilled potential to date... (well, maybe Kwame Brown is, but you know what I mean!). [speaking of which did you see Kwame's play of the day where he dunked over everyone coming down the lane today?] Z-Bo says he got his nickname in the 7th or 8th grade from a buddy and it just stuck. Not much of a story to it Sadly I tend to agree on Webster -- it doesn't look like he will be much more than a support player. However if this young team stays together as it is, that could be just what is needed. We've got a tough one tonight against the Spurs. I'll be interested to see how LaMarcus does against Tim Duncan (especially given that he says his game is a combo of Duncan and KG). I've ordered a copy of the game DVD of the POR-BOS game from pontel.com, so I can watch and cringe.
