This was posted by Phil Maymin on the igtc list. I say Rondo has Williams beat.
Rondo has played a total of 128 minutes, Williams 123 minutes. Questions to ask yourself before you see the stats: Who do you think: 1) Shot a higher percentage? 2) Had more assists? 3) Had more rebounds? 4) Had more steals/blocks? Here we go: Marcus Williams 6 games, 123 minutes 19-52 from the field for 37% 2-17 from downtown for 12% 8-8 from charity for 100% 3 offensive rebounds 16 defensive rebounds 19 total rebounds 12 assists 0 steals, 1 block 15 turnovers 15 fouls 48 points Rajon Rondon 6 games, 128 minutes 12-32 from the field for 38% -> about the same 0-1 from downtown for 0% -> about the same 7-13 from charity for 54% -> advantage: Marcus 3 offensive rebounds -> same 15 defensive rebounds -> same 18 total rebounds -> same 21 assists -> huge advantage: Rajon 5 steals, 0 blocks -> huge advantage: Rajon 10 turnovers -> advantage: Rajon 15 fouls -> same 31 points -> advantage: Marcus Overall who's the better point guard? You be the judge. Note: ASSISTS PER GAME Marcus: 2.0 vs. 2.5 turnovers (0.8 ratio) Rajon: 3.5 vs. 1.67 turnovers (2.1 ratio)

Very clever comparison. I guess I'd go wth Rondo. Plus it's not like there's a Jason Kidd on our team to show him the ropes.

Marcus Williams is an impressive passing PG and he will be much better than the numbers he's putting up right now. BUT SO IS RAJON!!! Rondo is a special talent and one of the premier athletes in the league. Hard to really gauge the two against each other now because they are playing backup roles.

If it makes anyone feel any better when you add in the offseasons and preseasons Rondo is way better. I personally think if the coach weren't Doc he'd probably be starting by now

And he does deserve to start. His passing and his defense are intangibles that merit him playing as many minutes as possible. I'm a big fan of both Telfair and Rajon and I think they both offer aspects of the game that will benefit our ballclub. Too bad we can't mold them into one PG.

In 2 seasons, I hope we are comparing Rondo to Chris Paul (and not Marcus Banks or Orien Greene).

Rondo would be the starter if he gets his shooting going. For now, 20+ minutes 5pts 4 ast 1stl per game ain't for a back-up.

In my book, Rondo is already ahead of both Banks and Orien Greene. Banks has never had Rondo's court vision and Orien doesn't create like Rondo can.
I don't think Chris Paul is a complementary comparison. Rajon doesn't play like CP3.

He's closey resembles Brevin Knight than CP3.
Both good at passing and defending but very streaky with thier shooting.

Q, good post (karma +). Hard to say. Let's try again, at the end of the year.
