Its becoming more clear, game by game, that this team is not Pierce's anymore; it belongs to our PG's (Rajon and Telfair), Wally, Gomes, Delonte, Perk, Jefferson and Powe (and it will soon belong to Gerald too).
He's the one not fitting in with the team. He's sticking out like a sore thumb these days. Everyone else is beginning to flow into the system and learning how the pieces all fit together. But not Pierce. He's determined to do things his way, and its killing us in close games.

The Orlando announcers stated over and over that our team was much better with Pierce on the bench and that he was forcing things and not playing within the team. He shot 6-20 and had 5 turnovers and was beat on defense every time down. It was very clear to the announcers. It was clear to the fans. Why is it not clear to our coach? Why did pierce play the entire second half so that what little he did have was no good by the end of the game?

I don't agree! ! ! I'm not a "one player fan" as some are. Paul is the best bet we have, when a game is on the line. It comes down to the other player's abilities and coaching. You just can't set a player up to fail. Pierce is and has been our best option late in games. A time comes when a coach needs to put other players in that role. Set plays for other players and live with the result.
I don't put this crappy start on PP's shoulders. Doc and the "kids" (2-4 year guys) - it's on you to step up and play like men.
If not ------- Trade the slackers and be done with them. Are we going to worry about trading the next Paul Westphal or Billups, with each and every move? We did win 2 titles after the Westphal trade....
Doc, get a clue or walk....

I don't see where trading Pierce helps us unless we get a stud bigman and pg in the process which if you can tell me how we are going to do that I'm all ears. Say we trade Pierce and Telfair for Billups and Prince. We get a good defensive SF that we've been lacking and a very solid starting pg, but we are still weak down low? We've lost our best player? Are we somehow going to be able to land Oden as well? If we can then hell yes trade pierce, but unless something like happens we are no closer to a championship. If we can package Pierce, Telfair and one of our bigs for that and a guarenteed sealed and delivered Oden that's the only way trading Pierce woudl get us over the top.

The only Pierce trade scenario I dig is trading him to CHI and getting NY's pick + prospects back.

Pierce has shown last year that he is willing to make changes for the better of the team, and hopefully he can continue to have that same attitude. Since the first game, I've been noticing that Wally is fitting in better with this offense than Pierce is, and now that Delonte is finally getting his shot back, he's also looking like a terrific fit. But Pierce's play has been regressing, his body language has gone out the door, and his lackluster play is causing too many momentum killing turnovers.

Pierce's minutes need to be cut drastically until he stops making mistakes. If he keeps trying to everything himself and kills the team's flow, then Ainge needs to step in and he will cut Pierce's minutes. If Pierce whines to the media, then we put him on the IL for five games and make an example out of him.

i think the problem of pp is that because doc is unable to get something out of the other guys he tries too hard himself. and that's bad for the team as we all know.

Actually, BC, the other guys are the ones who are playing well. When we play team ball, all the guys are involved offensively and they are all contributing with ball movement and smart decisions (for the most part). But Pierce right now is not fitting in. He's doing his own stuff. I'd say that he's sort of reverted to the Pierce of '05 (when he was almost traded to Portland for the chance to draft Chris Paul).

pp is overtrying the last couple of games but overall everybody misses assignments, rotations and other stuff. it's not one man's fault, it's always the team

Yes, it ultimately goes down as a team loss. But in the closing minutes of the past 2 games, Pierce has been a glaring bad decision maker, either by forcing plays or turning the ball over. My biggest problem with Pierce for years now has been his body language and his demeanor. At times, he plays like winning the game is the most important thing in the world. But a lot of other times, he needs guys like Antoine Walker and Kendrick Perkins yelling at him in the huddle to play harder.

I'm with BC.... Drop the PP stuff.
Doc is more the question IMO.
