Perk is developing his game very well and has been playing some good basketball this season. After getting in foul trouble the first couple of games he has been doing quite well staying on the floor and has been playing well. Don't forget that it wasn't until his 5th season that jermaine O'Neal showed anything. Perk is going to be fine and I expect him to break out this season.

I'm with FL that I think Perk is going to be good and is on the verge of breaking out. I also disagree with fresh, that this doesn't have to do with coaching. I'm not saying it's completely Doc's fault, but I think with the right coach this team could be one of those teams where guys are suddenly averaging 25-15 a night. Basketball isn't rocket science, and I've never bought that whole argument that you can't win with young players. I do agree it takes a period of time to gel and for players to find their comfort zones, and what to do at particular times, that is a reason why young teams don't win, but I wouldn't say it's impossible. I'm not saying Doc is hindering the development of these guys, if anything he is protecting them, but he also is not accelerating the process as much as he could be, without hindering the development either. His rotations make no sense sometimes. For this team to start out the season 1-6 is inexcusable and shows how not prepared this team was.

For example, why was Tony Allen getting so much time to start the season? Doesn't Doc see him every day in practice? Why did it take Doc 7 games to figure out he is a ballhog and isn't playing within the team concept? Is he the ultimate team player in practice or somethign and then when the lights come on he becomes a ballhog? Why did it take Doc 7 games to tell Gomes to get underneath the basket? Why was Gomes becoming a jumpshooter? Why did it take Telfair going to the hospital to get Rondo on the court? Had that not happened would Doc even know Rondo should be playing? It's stuff like that that bugs me. I would have known Rondo, Gomes, Green, and Perk should be playing before the season started. It apparently took Doc 7 games to figure that out. With jefferson coming back now, does that mean Gomes and Powe sit? It better be Scalabrine that is sitting, and Gomes better continue to start.
I listen to WEEI here and they say it's going to take time to figure out what we have and who should be playing and all that. That Doc and Ainge don't know what they have yet, they are trying to figure that out. Why is it going to take time? I already know who should be playing, how come Doc does not? 90% of the people on this board know who should and should not be playing. Why doesn't Doc? If anything Doc is at an advantage because he can evaluate these players every day in practice. Last game was the 1st game I've seen Doc play the right rotation. He played a 5 man starting unit and a 5 man bench that stayed in the game for a good stretch and that is what he should be doing. And if the bench struggles then he puts starters into that unit to help which he did with Wally and Pierce. Tony Allen, Ratliff, Scal, Ray should not be playing unless we really need them to. And ultimately Tony Allen is the only player on that list that has a chance of beating anyone out, but he has to play smarter.
Is Doc going to revert back to small ball when we are in a close game again only to lose the game because we get killed on the glass? Or are the C's going to play their best players and go with what works and have teams adjust to us? And I'm not knocking small ball it's ok in situations, the C's need to execute it better like everything else, but Doc does it every close game and it's not working.
