Yes, it took us an extra 10 minutes of overtime and a clutch 20 footer from Delonte to beat the so so Bobcats, but we lose this game if Ratliff wasn't playing. I counted at least 4 shots that he had blocked, though the stats only say 2. Right from the get go, he was blocking shots and making a difference in the post.
He's a lot more athletic and nimble than I thought.
What a difference a defensive player like him makes. Perk is a shot blocker in his own right, and against bigger, more physical type of big men, Perk may stack up better. But wow, Theo is excellent at contesting shots, even right at the front of the rim, without commiting fouls. His foul troubles last night were due to the silly reaching in variety on the ground.
We need Theo healthy throughout the season, and this makes me wish for Greg Oden much more now.

I personally think Ratliff's contribution was nice but overrated. Okafor absolutely killed us. Yes Ratliff had a few blocks but he kept letting Okafor just stroll down the lane without putting a body on him, he also went for the block on several occasions only to have the penetrator dish to the open man under the basket. We gave up over 100 points to the Bobcats Derren in a very ugly slow paced, game. He did do some nice things though Gerald Wallace got swatted several times going up for the slam which sent a message to Wallace. Overall it was a solid start for his 1st game, but he needs to put a body on someone although I dont think he is that type of player. Our defense was still very lax on the interior.
