pierce mentioned yesterday that he doesn't think we'll end up signing all the youngsters anyway and that this current season will probably determine who's gonna stay. logical. so my question is who would be three (or four) guys you would sign if you were danny. btw - perk is signed so that one is out of question.
my three would be al, rajon and gerald. add pp and perk to this threesome and i think we have our future celtic core. if pressed i would add sebastian as a back-up to rajon. so force feed minutes to those guys and trade everyone else for decent vets...

I think you can sign more than three but they'd have to have roles.
I'd sign Gomes as a back up at both forward spots. BACKUP
West as a backup at both guard spots. BACKUP
Al as a backup 4 and 5 BACKUP
Rondo and GG.
I'm not into Bassy too much yet. I'm not into TA too much. maybe backup swing but that's a lot of backups.
if we don't have players that can beat out guys like West, Gomes, and Al we will never win anything meaningful. This is why Scala was such a bad pick up. he just crowds the roster. this is why it was good to only sign Kandi for one year, although maybe they will wish there was an option for us added.

I'm pretty much with EJA on that. TA and Telfair are two guys I would let go if I had to. All the other guys I like and think can contribute in some way. It's hard to choose just 3. If I had to I would pick West, Green, and Jefferson. It's really hard to keep Rondo and Gomes out of that mix though. Can we please expand that list to 5 players, 6 including Perk?

Seems like we have a core group of talent, but everyone thinks they are back-up material.

Of course they are mostly backup material. You can't build a championship team with picks made in the 20s (almost GG, Rondo, West, TA, Perk) and 50s (Gomes). I don't care if they were high schoolers or preschoolers or had super duper upper stratosphere potentially awesome potential.

Well Al, Telfair, Green and Perk were supposed lottery picks had they gone to college. I'd llike to be patient with some of these guys. The question is which ones? That I don't know. I'd hate to pull another Billups. Maybe we can package a couple of these guys along with Wally and get a good lowpost player. I really think this team has a lot of growing to do and having a lowpost player or a pg would at least take some of the pressure off. Telfair played well tonight but inconsistency is going to continue to be a problem.

Unless we can package some youngns for a player of KG's caliber, I'd rather just roll with what we have. I'd still listen to the right Paul Pierce trade as well. If we are gonna tank, this will def. be the year to do so.

I think we can sign more than just 3. Its not like any of them are going to command more than 6-7 million per year, unless they breakout this season and make the All-Star team. I'd definitely hold onto Jefferson, Green and Rajon, but I would also like to sign up Gomes and Telfair too. Delonte is a terrific guy and a terrific player and if we could hold onto him too, do it. As for Tony Allen, he's got so much talent, but his focus just isn't there, and at this point, he's the odd man out.

To me, Wally is fitting in with the uptempo game more than Pierce, so if Ainge finds a deal out there for Pierce (as in for KG or JO or some other big star), I'd strongly consider it. Plus, if we totally bust this season, we could get Greg Oden, and this would be the biggest luck of the draw in ages.

I actually think telfair and Al were lottery picks. I know I know. GG, Perk, Al, Bassy, they all could have been top picks if they had gone to college. But they didn't go. Which means the real top picks will probably be better than them for a long time.

if we expect to be successful we need a couple of them or three to break out. that's what i meant. my picks are rondo, jefferson and green. what's the use of all the role players?. nobody wants those we don't, so we should trade them before everybody knows where their ceilings are.
