Perkins stinks. I think Jefferson should be starting over him. Rondo should start over Telfair. He can get the team going with the fast break. Perkins is a foul machine as well as a complete liability on offense. If you watched tonight's game you can see that Jefferson was more effective than Perkins at both ends of the floor plus his rotations on offense were much more fluid than perkins. Kendrick is slow footed plus his footwork is terrible and he makes up for that by pushing and fouling people.

I agree Jefferson was more effective but he did foul out.
Nonetheless, I completely agree with you.
Although I do not think Perk stinks.
This was a real odd game for matchups.

I would like to see Perkins and Jefferson play more at the same time. Going "small" will leave us at a disadvantage most of the time, as Pierce can't possibly average 19 rebounds per game. Perkins has his flaws, but did have 6 rebounds and 2 blocks in only 20 minutes, and has had some good games in his short career. The problem is, you can say that about everyone on the team except Pierce -- they have the occasional impressive game, but can't produce well on a consistent basis.

Nobody on our team is proven outside of Pierce. This team is a Franksteins Monster. Doc is just as lost. He has no clue what lineups to play. He is not getting the players, who need to be playing, in the game, at the right times (someone mentioned this earlier). We have a huge hole at center unless Jefferson plays it. Perk should not be starting. But on the other hand would Olowokandi be any better? I feel like we are Orlando a fews years back with Coach Rivers! Deja F-in' Vu!
Lottery team folks! Oops! Did I spill the kool-aide?
I'm sorry but I really believe we should be able to beat a team of this caliber. We played to their style and let Paul steam roll over us. Once again, PP had to take over the game and take all the shots to inch us back in it, to no avail. We should have muscled and huscled these guys and if we cannot do that, what chance do we have at beating the Bulls, or even the Magic now. Let alone Miami or New Jersey. Hey, let's just beat up on the Knicks, if we even can! Some young guys gotta look deep inside and pull it together. Bassy looked like his rep tonight, ineffective offense and low on the D. Where the hell was West, bad back?? No continuity and no consistency and no chemistry. I really got chills when Perk opened this game with a gigantic Block. I remember thinking, "Oh yeah, this team is better than I thought, I am glad I was wrong about them." But we all know I ate my words fast. We then went 0-6 from the field. We looked like a high school girls team for the rest of the game. Until Pierce kept hitting the Well. scrapping whatever he could to get us back into and he almost did. Just like he always does for our miserable team.
Maybe my perdiction that they won't Gel til the half is true and then we turn it around to finish at or around .500. Playoffs, great! But is this a team that can make it past rd 1?
I am so glass half empty tonight and I recognize that, but I wont feel any different til game 2 or something dramatic happens between now and then. What that is I can not forsee.

But is this a team that can make it past rd 1? The C's should be thrilled if they make the play-offs this year. Winning a series would be little short of a miracle.

If I remember correctly, Perkins look like crap last year in his first few games. It wasn't until mid-way through the season he started to make strides. Besides, at worst we have the new Adoyle Foyle on our hands except we're paying him half the price.

The team was getting good shots for Wally in the first quarter the only problem was that he was line driving the ball. Then Doc took him and perk out of the game and decided to play with two point guards and that made things worst because Telfair was getting Wally's shots and he is not a very good shooter. Doc should have replaced Wally with Gomes and Telfair with Rondo, that would have allowed Delonte or Gomes to take those shots with Rondo setting them up. After the team started out so poorly they got passive on offense and they looked completely lost out there and were afraid to take open shots. I blame this on Doc for not recognizing what was happening and playing the wrong players at the wrong time.

Perk has had very limited playing time. His first 2 seasons he averaged 3 and 5 minutes per game. Last season up until the trade, Perk was averaging 11 mpg but not consistently and Doc has this frustrating habit of pulling him when he gets 2 fouls or when he makes a mistake and keeping him on the bench. After the trade, Doc played him more and he was looking good when he and Al played together and then he got hurt. Perk is going to be a very good center. He has improved in leaps and bounds in his 3 seasons with limited playing time. If he ever gets real playing time, he will definitely break out and may anyway. Some of his tentativeness comes from the fact that the poor kid only has to breathe heavy and they call a foul on him. When he learns what he can do and what he can't do as far as being called for a foul, I think he will be more aggressive. Also, our defense stinks and so Perk is often stuck trying to defend the PGs who blow past him because the rest of the defense has broken down.
I honestly believe that Perk is going to be very good. I love his attitude and I love his work ethic. He is a special kid.

I'm a bit torn as what this team really needs. We need rebounding and we need players who thrive in the uptempo game.
As someone mentioned, Pierce grabbing 19 boards should not happen very often. We need 2 big men in there securing the boards. And we need 2 big men in there to give us height defensively. I thought Jefferson and Perkins did a good job rebounding and defending (not perfectly), but they weren't on the floor together, and this allowed the Hornets to get some easy baskets in the paint. I truly believe that Chris Paul is one of the best PG's in the game, but Perkins and Jefferson should have blocked his layups (they're 6'10" and he's just 6').
But at the same time, we didn't execute offensively, nor did we push the ball, and I don't think all the guys were running last night. Wally, Jefferson and Gomes were running, but that was about it. Rajon got the tempo going more than Telfair did, and I hope to see Sebastian doing a better job of pushing the ball next game. But I do like to see both of them on the floor at the same time.
If we are going to go small, I want to see this lineup:
Jefferson, Gomes, Pierce, Rajon and Telfair
If we are going to play regular, I want to see this lineup:
Perkins, Gomes, Pierce, Wally and Telfair

My Starting 5 - Rondo, Pierce, Wally Z, Al J, Perk
Rotation - Bassy, West, TA (Green), Gomes (Powe), Ratliffe (Kandi)
Water Boya - Scalabrine
Not that hard to figure out.
Strategy - Establish Perk and Jeff on Blocks - swing the ball to Sczerbiak (West). Run Rondo (Bassy) off Perk (Powe, Jeff) screens penetrate and dish.
Defense - zone collapse in paint and make teams beat you from outside to start season (New ball screws up shooting). Hire !!!GREENIAC!!! Harter to defend those pick and rolls (or read his manuels). Mix some full court pressure in.
Coach Q will call in tonight to celticsstufflive.

I go with Telfair for a few games before i jump onto the Rondo bangwagon. I think Sebastian is better than what he shown last game.
My starting lineup:
Telfair Wally Pierce Gomes Jefferson
I can see Jefferson starting at Center especially Doc wwants to go small.

Perkins needs to get about 25 minutes a game---some nights 30, other nights 20. Who gets the other minutes? Last night, the answwe was AJ. Obviouisly the more he plays at the 5, the less he plays at the 4. Ideally Ratliff. But he was ailing before the roster was set. Olo was kept over Jones or Akin. The puzzle to me is why he didn't play any last night.
