Once again, I am disappointed in the lack of preperation in getting Jefferson and Perkins going on the inside. Without a running game, you must work the ball inside out. Jefferson has a wonderful post up game that the Celtics do not take advantage of. Pierce missed another and Oklahoma has put this away. I will be calling into Celticstufflive under my real name and make my points known. This still a lottery team and it does not have to be. Did Doc try to play Perkins and Jefferson together?

west inbounds to Wally. over to PP. He misses a 3 and West with a tip in. Time runs out with the final score NO 91 Boston 87.
We never had any cohesion on offense or defense. Pierce took the game over toward the end or it would have been much worse. Doc has never set a rotation. None of the players are used to playing together and so there just doesn't seem to be any chemistry. Missed free throws came back to haunt us as well. We were terrible from the line.

No we cannot blame it on the ball or global warming or even the French. But we can blame it on a bunch of players that played like they weren't interested in winning.
So maybe Perk really was the kind of player that only cares in a contract year. i wonder if Al will be like that this year along with I guess TA and West

Nope, I pin this on the lame coaching staff for taking too long on how to keep Paul out of the paint and for not getting a rotation with roles set for the team. It looks like this team will take a long time to develop and I don't think Pierce and Sczczerbiak have that kind of time. Tony Allen was not a factor tonight. Pierce and Sczczerbiak shot poorly all night. What happened to Delonte West? Gomes and Al Jefferson seemed overmatched all night long.

Well personally I thought the ladies over at UCONN could have played better, but that's just me. I definitely think Lebron's high school team could probably have done better. They may have had more potential. or less. Whatever works

Ok here is my opinion. Perkins is a stiff. Telfair can't carry Chris Paul's jock. Wally's shot was completely flat. Also starting four guards really killed them. Gomes needs to start, Jefferson needs to start, Rondo needs to start. By going small Pierce was forced to do everything. Pierce is a very good rebounder but he should not be getting 19 rebounds. He was getting beat up inside. Perkins is a total liability out there. He is too slow on the rotations and ends up fouling everyone. If the celtics want to go small then start Jefferson and Gomes. I know Jefferson fouled out but it was only because Telfair couldn't guard Chris Paul and Al had to rotate to stop him. That was very obvious at the end of the third quarter when Chris Paul kept running the high pick and Telfair was glued to Chandler and West every single time. Overall the team looked back and completely lost out there. They didn't know who was going to do what or where to be on offense. They were passing up shots, over dribbling and not advancing the ball thru the pass. Also Doc Rivers once again played the wrong people at the wrong time and also played too many players. Gerald Green didn't see any time and neither did Powe. The celtics were getting pushed around and we didn't use the one player who's best asset is his feistiness and ability to rebound. They also struggled on offense and still didn't play Green who is the only other player besides Pierce who can get a shot off of anybody. If they continue to play like this i see Doc getting fired.

hey guys relax. it's not the end of the world. just one game. i'm as worried about as everybody else. the played poorly but still were almost able to win. the most comforting thing - miami lost to the bulls by 42 and they are considered to be one of the favourites this year

I guess the small tactic didn't work? If I were Doc, I would consider to play Al at Center and Gomes at PF so we don't force Paul Pierce to play out of his position. Something needs to be change, we can't win with a large quantity of guards.
You can't win playing small if you don't have the personel to play that style.
BTW, Count me in on Lets replace Doc with a more proven coach like Adelman.

Guess I'm in a minority. The big question for me is: Why didn't Olo play last night? We had been reading about how well he was doing; playing with energy, etc. Cs got their lunch handed to them by "points in the paint." Layups and stuffs. Seems to me that it would have been worth a try to put a 7 footer in there and she if he could stop that !!!GREENIAC!!!.
For me the "small ball" lineup should feature AJ at the 5.
I'm not as big a fan of West as most of you. But hs not gotten in the rhythm after being out a good bit of pre-season, and playing in 2 games.
The 19 turnovers aren't going to win games, but they had more than that quite often last year.
They outrebounded the hornets---but you don't want the game being played every night so that PP gets 19 rebounds.
Is it my imagination, or was last night AJ's best offensive showing so far this year---by that I mean better than pre-season?
To restate an earlier opinion: I wish DA had kept either Jones or Akin A rather than Roy. They may not be as good at the 5 as Roy is at the 1-2, but---like Laimbeer---they could have given up to 6 fouls in knocking Paul on his !!!GREENIAC!!!.

I was shocked to see MO not play too ferbo. Let's see what he has this season before we start letting him rot on the pine.

My thoughts. If he isn't going to play with regularity, especially while Ratliff is out, cut his !!!GREENIAC!!!. I admire the idea of him putting forth the effort and making a decent showing in pre-season. It would help greatly if he could average 10 minutes per game. Or maybe less. Perk isn't going to play 35 yet. Ratliff can't, and will fare better with a limited number of minutes, at least for awhile. It would help greatly if AJ was regularly getting that offensive output at the 4.
