[glow=green,2,300]
Arnold "Red" Auerbach for building the game we know and love, for helping to create the games fundamental strategies of rebounding and defense wins games and basketball championships, for employing the best people for the job regardless of race, color, or creed, for promoting teamwork and a family and an enduring fanbase, for staying loyal to us during the dark ages of Paul Ga$ton and Rick Pitino, and giving us strength to rebuild for our childrens and grandchildrens teams in the 21st century.
Mostly, we thank Red for creating a legacy we can look up to everytime we walk through the doors of Banknorth Garden and he sits up there smoking that eternal victory cigar, wirebrushing the refs bad calls against the Celtics and his players lapses in hustle. Coach the hell out of Len Bias and Reggie Lewis and any other Oldtime Celtics fans that have passed on, Red.
COACH THE HELL OUT OF THEM, RED

Would've been nice to have won #17 before he passed, but I think he's happy with all the rings he has already. #17 will be in memory of Red.

It would be most fitting to get that seventeenth title in San Antonio on Father's Day 2007, just to blow cigar smoke in Tim Duncan's face.

For those who looked, Red had a legacy beyond basketball. It was a legacy of a communal approach to life rather than individualism at all cost.
