Sorry, I can't help it. Maybe its the combination of Red's passing and just running on fumes before I go to bed. Whatever it is, I'm feeling really good about our future.
I look at Sebastian and Rajon, and I see star potential from one of them (actually from both of them, but that may be Kool Aid overdose). I see Gerald Green and I see star potential there. I see Al Jefferson and I see star potential there as well. And of course we have Pierce at SG, and he's already a star. That gives us star players at the PG, SG, SF and PF spots. Now, if David Stern will be so kind as to give us the #1 overall pick this draft to make up for the loss of Red Auerbach, we will have our star Center too when we grab Greg Oden. There is absolutely no way we don't win at least 5 championships with that starting 5.
Not to stop there, we have tremendous role players, who, as we all know, are essential for a dynasty. We have Delonte, Gomes, and Perkins and these guys are truly valuable players. They are the glues between the starting unit and the 2nd unit.
Starting 5:
Oden
Jefferson
Green
Pierce
Telfair
(Powerhouse unit with tremendous scoring firepower, rebounding, shot blocking, and excitement)
2nd unit:
Perkins
Gomes
Delonte
Rajon
(Very reliable and effective bench)
That's an extremely deep team from 1 - 9.
Of course, getting Oden is out of the question, unless Stern really feels sorry for the organization and secretly rewards us with the top pick. But we can still have a formidable team if we pick up a big shot blocker and rebounder who is as good as Perk or better (Tiago Splitter?).
