Now that we've cut ties with Grant, Jackson, Pittsnogle, Akingbala, we are down to 15 players on the roster. Of those 15 spots, only 12 of them can be on the active roster once season starts. 3 guys are going to be on the inactive roster (mening they can't dress up for the game). We can also send eligible players down to the D-League. For certain, here are the players who will be on the active list:
Pierce Wally Delonte Perkins Telfair Jefferson Allen Gomes
The remaining players are either injured or possible D-League prospects for the time being:
Powe Scalabrine Rajon Ratliff Olowokandi Ray Green
Rajon may have to be inactive as he nurses his foot injury, and so may Theo Ratliff with his back problems. Scal too, for that matter, as he recovers from his shoulder injury (but no rush ;D) Olowokandi may make the active roster just because we are short manned up front.
I feel that its better for Gerald to remain with the parent ballclub so that he can get some minutes during games and practice with guys like Pierce and Wally. I don't want him to be sent to the D-League. I also don't want Powe to go down, simply because he may be able to give us 10 minutes of pure effort and rebounding off the bench. We certainly need this.
I'm pretty sure Allan Ray is going to go down--its unfortunate for him to be in the nunbers crunch.

This might be the "thing" that light a fire under Olowokandi. It sounds like he wants to be in Boston and with this young team. I just hope it's not just for the paycheck...
edit- I also think guys like PP and T.Rat won't let him dog it and just play for the sake of the $$$.

Ray is definitely D - league material. Though I agree w/ Derren, about Powe. He could be good for 10 bruising minutes each game.

Yeah, hopefully Doc and Ainge sees it that way too.
I'm a bit worried about Olowokandi. He was desperate to make the team because there seems to be no other interest in him. He hasn't been given a contract yet, and it may not even come. But if Ainge does give him a contract, I wouldn't be surprised if Olowokandi disappears again. He could possibly be playing hard for a contract, and once he gets security of being on the team, he may not try as hard.

In the grand scheme of things, I dont think Kandi's play is going make a big difference for us, now that Al is seeing some minutes at the 5. Basically, if Kandi is getting sig. minutes, it means our big men have been decimated by injuries, and if thats the case, we have a lot bigger fish to fry.

No, but that roster spot could have been given to someone more worthy. They seemed to really like Akingbala. But I'm sure him being so raw and new to basketball, they couldn't afford to give him a roster spot.
If Kandi is not going to be given much playing time anyways, I would be more interested in taking a flier on a young defensive player and using Kandi's roster spot on him.

I will go out on a limb and predict Paul Pierce will be on the active roster!!
Continuing with my boldness, I will add Wally, West, Telfair, Gomes, Jefferson, Perkins and Tony Allen to the active roster.
So I'm down to the "final four" ...
I say Rondo (not having read many details about his foot issues, I will guess that having been able to get floor time in our last preseason game, his foot should be strong enough to allow him to play after a week's rest)
Powe (we need rebounding)
Green (he learned all he could from D-League, and needs some more run with the big boys)
Kandi (he is a live body who stands 7 feet tall - with Ratliff hurt that makes him our second best center)
Inactive list:
Scal and Ratliff due to injury
Ray, who gets time in the D-League

I'll second Mev's lineup. I have no problem signing 'kandi to a 1 year minumum contract and see th former 1st round draft pick play hungry.

No, but that roster spot could have been given to someone more worthy. Sticking with my grand scheme of things gameplan, I don't think anyone that was either cut or traded this pre-season will ever have much of a career in the NBA. Lazy or not, Kandi will be a better NBA player than all of these guys.

I'm really disappointed at Ratliff's back. He had been working out before pre-season started, and I thought the word was that he looked to be in good shape. Several victories can turn into defeats if he isn't in there.

Ratliff has been a health risk for many years now, and unfortunately for us, he hasn't shed that stigma. We are going to need Perkins to step up big time and assume more responsibility while Theo is out.

Given Ratliff's back, makes me wonder about Akin whatever. Know they said he was green. But said some good things about his DEFENSE! I would have been inclined to keep him over Ray.

I would have been willing to give him Olowokandi's roster spot. There's must be a reason why Olowokandi has been an albatross for all these years, jumping from team to team. He's a 7 footer with solid mobility and length, but yet no one wants him. Akingbala was showing defensive promise and I find it hard to give up on a young defensive player, especially since we are lacking defensive players in the middle.
