www.bostonherald.com/blogs/celtics/?p=7October 26th, 2006 Celtic cuts Posted by Steve Bulpett at 5:53 pm The Celtics took a fairly expected route today with their last cuts, dropping Luke Jackson and Brian Grant by the 6 p.m. deadline to get down to the maximum roster of 15. Players have to be on waivers for two business days, so today’s cuts were necessary to meet the Monday 6 p.m. deadline for finalized rosters. Jackson was acquired in an October 13 deal with Cleveland and was unable to get much of a look. Grant was acquired from Phoenix in the trade that netted the draft rights to Rajon Rondo, but he never joined the club in person. In addition, the Celts will pick up their option for a the 2007-08 season on Tony Allen. That move could come as soon as today or Friday.

Looks to me like DA in essence traded Jones for Ray. Don't think I would have done that.

Well, I certainly would have liked Luke Jackson playing for us, and playing well. But life goes on.
Now we have to decide who goes to the D-League and who becomes inactive.

I am thinking that they wanted to keep Ray just in case Rondo's problem worsens and he has to miss time. Ray can handle the ball and back up at PG so as to not have to shift Delonte from one position to the other.

It might not be the best to move DW from 1 to 2 and back again.... I do believe West just wants to be on the floor and winning games. He is a "gamer".
Ray Green Rondo (Due to injury---If this is so.)
To the D-League to start the season.
West and TA can play the point, when needed.

Cutting Luke Jackson was one of the first moves I have questioned Danny on. Why not just cut Dwayne Jones?

Cutting Luke Jackson was one of the first moves I have questioned Danny on. Why not just cut Dwayne Jones? I don't see what the big deal is. They were going to cut Jones anyhow. Why not trade him and see if Jackson can work out for us? The owners were able to pocket a little $$$ as well. This was a good trade regardless if we kept Jackson or not.
