aol.nba.com/celtics/news/notes/notes102006-waivers.htmlPittsnogle and Akingbala have been waived. This morning's paper had Danny saying that he wanted to wait for cuts to look at Luke Jackson again. I suspect that they decided to cut Pitts and Akingbala to give them more chance to possibly be picked up by another team and will wait to make the other cut. I expect either Ray or Jackson to be cut. I am thinking probably Ray because of the size difference mostly. There would have to be 1 more cut and if no trade presents itself, I expect that to be Grant. Hopefully Powe's performance on Wednesday proved that he is worth hanging onto.

Our roster is relatively thin upfront. Perk, Jefferson, Ratliff and Kandi are our only guys above 6'9". And each of them may be at risk for an injury (Perk = shoulder, Jefferson = ankle, Ratliff = back, Kandi = something). Not as if Pitts and Akingbala were going to give us anything anyways. But now we really have to make sure no one gets hurt.
This also gives Doc a lot more freedom to use his small lineup.

I can see Doc using Powe and Jefferson at center on the small lineup. If Powe could play like he did against the Nets he would be a good center for the small ball lineups.

Yeah, against small teams we can play Powe and Jefferson (and Gomes, whatever combination Doc wants to use). But against regular sized teams, its going to be a struggle to win boards consistently.

Strange. Article in Herald for Sat. says final cut will be either Jackson or Olo...

Last year, the bigs were Raef, Blount, Perk, and AJ.
If Olo gets cut, they will be Perk, AJ, and new guy from Portland. Which would be 1 less big.
That would make it cu rious to think of Jones being gone, and AA and Olo being cut.

I am not sure why Danny signed Pitts to begin w/. It will be interesting to see if Danny cuts L Jackson.

Once again, I have a funny feeling that Olowakandi will make this team.
Perkins, Ratliffe, Kandi @ center Jefferson, Powe, Scalabrine @ PF Sczerbiak, Gomes, Green @ SF Pierce, West, Allan Ray @ SG Bassy, Rondo, and TA @ PG
Those would be your 15 Celtics to make the roster.

I think we better pray that he does, and that the "new" Olo hangs around.
