Bill Reynolds brings up Boozer's name in trade rumors. Not much legs at all, at this time.
One thing is, Carlos Boozer would make us a better team almost immediately. He's a proven scorer and rebounder and he'd give us offensive stability at the 4. But apparently, Jerry Sloan doesn't care for the fact that he isn't contributing defensively. This should be somewhat of a red flag for Boston fans. We are screaming for better defense and though Boozer gives us a consistent scorer near the basket, we have a bigger need for guys who can defend the basket.
Some fans are talking about moving Wally or moving Jefferson in this trade. If we have to give up Wally, fine. I like him, but we have players who may be able to fill right in for him without skipping a beat (or do so in a short amount of time). Jefferson, on the other hand, I'd strongly advise Ainge not to deal away. Yeah he's been playing behind of Gomes, and with Powe blowing up the other night, he may be playing behind him too. But I'm not in the corner with those who like to trade away young players with vast potential just because they aren't putting up big numbers at the age of 21. To me, that's being near sighted and impatient.
I'm in no hurry to trade for Boozer. I'm much more interested in trading for a rugged rebounder who plays solid defense. I think that's the best thing Ainge can do for us this year--bring in a defensive upgrade at the 4 or 5.

Booze is not the type of person (character wise) the Celtics are looking for. The team needs to be patient, because it has alot of good bargaining chips.

Tony Allen and Wally Sczczerbiak to Utah, Boozer to Philly, Iverson to Boston.......
I think we have been down this road before, Haven't we?

This is one of those situations where moving a young prospect like Al could bite us in the rear if he becomes a decent player but on the other hand Boozer isn't an old cat either so he has plenty of improvement as well.
Far as defense goes, I don't think Boozer isn't much worse or any better than what Al can do. On offnese, Boozer is miles ahead of Al Jefferson. There is no question Boozer at this present time is a better scorer/rebounder than Al but are the chances al will put up the same stats without the same contract as boozer.
Tough call, it basically comes down to Will Al reach his potential and if he does will he be better than Carlos boozer in the next 4 years?

Today's Desert News had Jazz denying trade talks for Boozer. I don't like taking on Boozer simply because he is over paid. We don't need another big contract on this team right now when we will need to sign our kids next season.
