I just looked back at some old threads from our board, and I came across a similar question I asked from early last year. In it I said our future starting 5 will be:
Perk
Jefferson
Green
Tony
Delonte
At the time, I was feeling Pierce was a goner (this is when Blount, Raef, Ricky and Banks roamed the Garden). I didn't feel that he wanted to be here long term. Things have changed since then and our team chemistry and commeraderie has changed big time.
Since then, we've also added 2 PG's who are clearly better playmakers than Delonte. I think a change is in order for that prediction.
Also, in the next 5 years, who knows what will happen in the drafts. We probably won't draft Greg Oden or OJ Mayo, but guys like Joakim Noah and Thaddeus Young may end up being lucky picks for Ainge. But taking this scenario aside, here's what I currently predict:
Perk
Jefferson
Green
Pierce
Tel-Fondo
For the life of me, I can't put my finger on who I honestly think will be our future PG. I like Rajon's overall game, but I really like Telfair charisma as the lead guard.
5 years from now:
--Jefferson and Green will combine with Pierce to give us 3 big scorers (each capable of putting up 20 pts in any given game)
--Perk and Jefferson will be our twin tower rebounding forces
--Tel-Fondo will be averaging 10 apg feeding the ball to Pierce, Jefferson and Gerald
--we'll be one of the premier offenses in the league with our inside/outside attack
--we'll be a solid defensive team because our guys will learn how to play good team defense
--Doc will have a deep team to use, with Tony Allen, Ryan Gomes, Dwayne Jones, Leon Powe and Delonte West all waiting to get into the game
