To me, it sounds like it is a bit more serious than what we're hearing. Delonte comments that he thinks he'll be back on the court by Sunday, but Doc doesn't sound so optimistic. He says he isn't concerned right now (key word), and he'll wait for Ed Lacerte's clearance before allowing Delonte back on the court.
I know we should be cautious about injuries, especially in training camp because you don't want to derail a season because you rushed your injury a bit. But from the sounds of it, he will be nursing his back for more than a week. That doesn't sound like just a tweak.
Another concern is that if he misses too much time, he'll fall behind the pack, like how Jefferson, Tony, and Marcus did last season. I'm sure he can make up ground very quickly, but it also depends on how far Sebastian can separate himself from Delonte (if he does pull ahead of Delonte).

This is a tough one DM...
I've seen West as an injury-prone play, like the rest of us. But this kid brings so much to the court and locker-room. He has a heart and the drive to be a player that does much more than the number show. We need him in the games too. All he can do for the team off the court and the community are big too.
I'm tossed on this young man. I just like his person and his game (when healthy).
Take a chance on his health and potential because we won't get the value out of him at this time. If we do trade this kid, he could be the guy hitting the big bucket against us in future playoffs.

Today's news talks about Delonte actually having an MRI three weeks ago for his injured back and he'll have another one today or tomorrow (he's still not cleared for practices).
Am I being a bit too worried or does this sound like something we should be concerned about?
Preseason games start on tuesday (first game is against the Cavs). That leaves Doc and the staff with only 4 more days before actual games start. Delonte has missed more than half of the training camp and might lose the entire week.

If he misses significant time (I guess about 10 games) I hate to admit it but he starts to get the "soft" and "injury prone" labels.

I just posted an article on Loy's Place saying that West practiced today. He went through about 75 minutes of practice and they expect him to be able to full tilt tomorrow.
Very good news!!

That is definitely good news. We need our entire team healthy if we are going to prove the critics wrong this season. Delonte needs to be a factor (as do all the young players) and he can't be a factor if he's not playing.

It's nice that one of our players most likely to be hurt is also most likely to make a quick recovery.
