There might be room for them both. We could use big guys, just for their fouls, against some teams.

If we are to keep them both, we'd need to give up both Pittsnogle and Allan Ray (and we'll need to give Kandi a contract, since he's a free agent right now). This may be a possibility, if Ainge and Doc feel that Olowokandi can be a serviceable player.
I like Allan Ray, but for all the minutes Doc will be trying to divide up between Pierce, Wally, Delonte, Tony and Gerald, Ray is going to be the odd man out. Even if he goes to the NBDL, unless we move one of the aforementioned players, Ray will never find time on this roster.

I guess I need to know more about Ray and his NBA type of play, before I can say any more. Not up on his game or potential.

I definitely think Ray can be an NBA player. I view him in the mold of a Lindsey Hunter type of player. But my problem is that, even though I like the kid and think he can turn out to be a quality backup for us, I have a lot of wing players who I like more than him (Gerald and Tony), and we still need to find them playing time for them first.

So, do we need to pick the right wing player and keep more bigs? Due to foul and injury issues.

I can't take Kandi serioiusly as long as it has been since he played anything like decent. He makes Joe Barry Carroll look like HOF.

Well, there was one point while he was with the Clippers that I thought he started to blossom. He had his drop step hook shot working and he was being more physical than I had ever seen him. But that didn't last too long. I don't know if Kandi will ever get it and put it all together.

If Kandi should surprise, make the team, and become a useful player---not a star or a starter, but just a useful big off the bench---that would be the greatest reclamation project in Celtic history. Frankly I was su rprised that he finished the "run."

Yeah, it was surprising that he finished the run. If he can be a useful rebounder and shotblocker off the bench, than yes, I'm willing to keep him on the team. But I'm really hoping Dwayne Jones steps into that role this season.

To be fair to Kandi the year he was drafted the other bigs were (in order of how they were taken)
Raef Tractor Traylor Dirk (who was being drafted on pword just as much as anyone in that draft) Mike Doleac Keon Clark Nesterovic Pat Garity Brian Skinner Stepania Nazr M Rashard Lewis Jelani McCoy Korleon Young Jahidi White
That may have been the worst big man draft of all time. Other than Dirk, Rashard Lewis is the only other one who has even sniffed an all-star appearance and both of those guys are barely big men.
I wouldn't argue with his physical possibilities, but he was drafted way too high. Pword vaulted this 2nd rounder from Pacific to the #1 spot. Dumb.

I kinda see Ray as a David Wesley type at best but I haven't seen him play. He could be a Will Bynum or Oriene Green. We don't know.

I JUST thought of one thing. DA was saying good stuff about Ray before the draft. Maybe that was a smoke screen so then he goes out and signs the guy with no intention of keeping him to maintain the screen, and then just incidentally he was good in summer league. Hmmm. I wonder if that would ever happen.
