Finally, off season is over and training camp starts tomorrow. I am so tired of hashing and rehashing the questions and predictions and tired of nothing happening. With today being Media day, hopefully the papers will have some good stuff for us to digest tomorrow. I would never bet on it, though because the Boston papers really don't do that great a job covering the team lately.
Now, I can't wait for Oct 10 and the first game. I predict that this season:
Telfair starts out as the starting PG but Rondo moves into the starting roll by the end of the season.
West will play more at the 2 but will also get some minutes at the point.
Green will win the Slam Dunk contest.
We will send at least 1 and probably 2 players (more if we can) to the D League.
Al and Perk are going to have break out years. Perk is going to turn the corner and become one of the top centers in the league.
This team will run and will play defense. (keeping my fingers crossed on the defense part).
If given a chance to play, Leon Powe will surprise a lot of people and be one of the steals in the draft.
DJones will beat out Pittsnogle for the last roster spot.
Danny will make a trade sometime this season.
We will win 49 games this season (There you have my official prediction)
Celtics will make the playoffs.

Can you feel the excitement guys (and gals)!!! The wait is over. We finally get to see if these guys we have been talking about all summer are ready to play and make us better. Time to see if Telfair is really going to transform us into a running team. Time to see if Jefferson finally realizes what it takes to be a good player. Time to see how much more effective a healthy, and adjusted Wally can be. Time to see if we will play defense.
I will continue on with the predictions FL has started, and state some of my own.
Gomes will be our 6th man of the year. Telfair will absolutely make him look good.
Pierce will finally shoot over 50% for the season.
Dwayne Jones will get his foot in the door. By seasons end, DJ will be getting regular minutes off the bench.
We will remain relatively injury free for the year.
Man, my thoughts are all over the place. I can go all night predicting stuff. I'm just anxious for the season to start!!

It is good to be back in school and not be bothered by distractions like the Red Sox playoffs :/
We can focus on our Celtics.

Got this little nugget from Celtics.com, regarding today's practice (Thursday)
WALTHAM – Word from Waltham is that Doc Rivers ran the boys hard Thursday morning, as the Celtics practiced for about three and half hours going through offensive and defensive sets, as well as a pretty intense scrimmage that left the head coach pleased.
Brought a smile to my face. Sounds like the players are prepared for this season. They all put in the hard work during the offseason and have come into training camp in excellent condition. And because of this, they have been able to put in tough practices and scrimmages. Last season, Doc made comments here and there that he wasn't thrilled with some of the practices and scrimmages. Sounds like he is happy with the way things are unfolding so far.

Doc says that players are starting to separate themselves in practice. He mentions that Tony Allen is separating himself:
"Tony Allen is starting to show the separation that he belongs to be in games every day. He's been that good," said Rivers, who also mentioned Pierce, Wally Szczerbiak and Ryan Gomes as players who are standing out in camp. "Not having Tony last year really hurt us, more than I thought it would."
C'mon Tony!!! This kid is really exciting. I'm hoping he's a big part of our rotation. He's a difference maker when he's on the court, whether it be with his suffocating defensive pressure he can apply on his man, or with his slashing ability on offense.
I am hoping that Jefferson really steps up this year and has himself a breakout year. But Gomes is holding down the fort and he could force Jefferson to prove his game off the bench first. This actually may be a good thing for Jefferson--ease him into the starting rotation. Just like in baseball, a team may bring along a young pitcher by throwing him into the bullpen first and having him prove himself there before placing him in the starting rotation. Al can still have a breakout year by giving us a big boost off the bench and solidifying our bench production.
