Wally should have better oncourt chemistry with Paul Pierce than Ricky Davis did. RD is a pretty high energy guy and his speed is not an element that Wally is going to replace. But it was noticeable that Ricky and Pierce replicated one another--Ricky did not compliment Pierce's game all that well because he plays the same way.
Not long after Wally came aboard in the trade, once he got a bit familiar with his teammates and the offensive system, he added a new wrinkle in the way our offense ran. He's a smart passer and doesn't force as many shots as Ricky. Unfortunately, Wally's knee was acting up and it affected his shooting. But he was still able to shoot better than 47%. He had many cold starts, but would end up hitting consecutive shots to pull his percentage up.
Wally plays in the team game more than Ricky. When Ricky was a Celtic, he and Pierce would often do a lot of iso's, or they would try to create offensive plays for themselves. But with Wally, the ball moved around the court more efficiently and the oncourt chemistry among the players looked much better.
This season, Wally will have a fixed up knee (I can't really say healthy because it'll never be healthy. It'll be fine on some days, not so fine on others), he'll be here for training camp to drill him on our plays, and he will have better chemistry with his teammates.

I agree Derren. From his first game last season I could see a difference in the on court chemistry and the offense just seemed to flow much better. Too often before the trade, our offense would end in either Pierce or Ricky dribbling around trying to create their own shot and the offense stalled out. I did a piece today on chemistry on Loy's Place and I feel that the improved chemistry on this team is going to make a difference in how they play.

Right. With Wally, its not "oh yeah Paul? Well let me see you do this!" It wasn't always like that with Ricky, but the two weren't exactly a complimentary pair. Wally matches in our team structure, as he is willing to give up his offense in order to keep the ball moving.
