Apparently, the reputation he brought with him was well earned. What a jerk!

I loved Ricky while he was here... His play on the court won me over as he seemed to go all out every game and brought energy to the team. It was all very well hidden while he was here and from all the reports, he was the ideal teammate. If these reports now are true, I am glad that Danny was able to move him and bring in a much better chemistry guy in Wally. I loved Ricky's game but chemistry is a very important part of building a team and any player who undermines the chemistry on a team needs to be gone. To Danny's credit, he made his reason for trading Ricky his being too similar to Paul and not the fact that he was a disruptive influence.

This sort of sheds new light for me on my view of Paul Pierce. During his 8 year career, he's had 2 All-Star caliber teammates who had disruptive personalities that may have cramped Pierce's ability to really blossom as leader of his team. Both Toine and Ricky may have been hindering Pierce's development as the vocal leader of his team because the team would be split as to who they would listen to.

Ricky's attempt to sabotage Paul's team reminds of Jim Paxson's attempt to undermine Bird's authority in the late 80s.

Kind of makes us appreciate Wally more, doesn't it?

Wally is so underrated. I thought he was so good last season that it has made me seriously wonder whethe the problems in Minn were him or KG. I definitely don't think it made KG look good. I mean think of it this way. If Lebron had had Wally and KGs supporting cast (Cassell, Spree, etc) what would have happened? Here's this guy who gets traded, doesn't know if he'll stay, gets played into the ground, is a good player who actually passes, and doesn't complain and yet he wasn't even ranked as a good fantasy player in TWO of the magzines I bought. I can't wait to see what he does. One thing I think he will do is take pressure off PP, who will be less doubled and play a few less mins and give them to a young guy. Wally can make a huge difference. I'd rather have him over RD any day. DA totally fleeced McHale on this trade. KG has nobody to blame but himself.

One of the things that irked me about Wally in his MInny day was his propensity for complaining to the media. He'd often whine to the media when he wasnt getting enough shots or if he wasnt happy about his PT. Lets hope that it was in his past and we wont have to deal with it in Boston.

The CBS Sportsline ranking of Shooting guards ranks Wally at #15. www.sportsline.com/nba/story/968669815. Wally Szczerbiak, Boston: He seemed to fit in well after coming over from Minnesota, not that it translated into team success. He and Paul Pierce could form a productive wing combo, defensive proficiency notwithstanding. But Szczerbiak has to continue the positive momentum enjoyed last season following a few down years.
