When Theo is healthy, he can block a few shots. Question is, will he be healthy this year? Last year, he had some issues with a sprained ankle, but he says that this year, he is playing pain free.
If Ratliff remains injury free this season and plays 20 ~ 25 minutes a game (if he's healthy and playing like a valuable veteran shot blocker, Doc will be tempted to play him just as many minutes as he gives Perk), how many blocks will he average per game?
Second question is, how many will he and Perk combine to average per game?

I can see them averaging 5 blocks per game between the both of them.

I was thinking along that line as well. If we are playing the type of defense that funnels plays toward the middle, where our shot blockers are, I can see Perk and Rat averaging 5 bpg between the two of them.

I can definitely see them averaging 5 blocks per game. Perk is on the rise and could become a very dominant shot blocker this season. He has blocked as many as 6 in a game when he got the playing time. I think ratliff should average around 15-20 minutes when Perk is on the bench. This will give him a good shot at staying healthy the whole year. If Doc plays him into the ground early, we won't have him for the stretch run.

And I shouldn't count out Dwayne Jones either. He didn't get much burn time in the summer league, but that shouldn't give any indication of how little he'll be used this season. He gives our Center position something neither Perk or Rat gives; quickness and agility. I really think he'll work his way into the rotation, possibly in the second half of the season.

I kind of forgot about Dwayne Jones - is he still under contract with the C's.
If Ratliffe goes down - who backs up Perkins if he gets in foul trouble?

I like Jones also. I have been puzzled as to why he hasn't seen any playing time, especially during the SL. I have also been a bit worried that they will cut Jones and keep Pitts because of Doc's love of centers who can hit the 3. I like what Jones brings to the table.

It will be a sad day if we get rid of a willing rebounder and keep a guy who loves to shoot three's.
I feel that DJ was not given playing time in SL in an attempt not to showcase him to other teams.

I sure hope so Derren. I like Jones and think he can be a good player. He brings a lot to the table and hasn't really been given a chance to show it. The two games he did get playing time last season, he had 11 and 13 rebounds. He can really clear the glass and I believe he will be able to play the fast break ball because he is very athletic and quick for his size as well.

Right, I mean its not a big sample size to draw from, but from what I've seen of him in those 2 games (as well as some summer league action) and the impression that I got of him, he's a willing rebounder who goes after loose balls with tenacity. This is pretty much the opposite of Mark Blount.
Like all young players, once he figures out how to play against NBA players, he'll be alright. And I know this may sound like a broken record, but with Clifford Ray here teaching our bigs how to become better players, it'll be exciting watching DJ's progress.

If we have to choose between Jones and Pitts, I certainly hope DA keeps DJ and cuts Pitt. Nothing against him, he was a decent college player and may even make a good pro backup, but it comes down to necessity.
This team right now is stacked at the 4, and we do not need another "Raef" shooting 3's.
DJ could be our third big. He is a solid rebounder, and plays decent defense. I could see him becoming a solid backup big for us for the future. A big guy who isn't afraid to mix it up, bang, rebound and give 5 fouls is not a bad thing to have.
I think that is needed way more than another 4.
Without DJ, our depth at center looks like this:
Perk Theo
That's it.
Power forward looks like this:
Al Gomes Powe
I'd take DJ over Pitts.

Tough call, DJ or Pitts. I would take DJ, but hey its just me.

And really, if we did have the roster space to hold onto Kevin Pittsnogle, and we were already strong at C, I wouldn't mind keeping him aboard. He is a rarity (a three point shooting Center) and off the bench, he would be a nice option to use. It is nice to have a big man who can stretch the defense by pulling the opposing big man away from the basket.

I'd take DJ over pitts.
We have plenty of shooters. We need to rebound in order to get our shooters more potential shots.
