Alright all you Perk fans (and I know there are quite a bit of you). Got a serious question to ask you, so I'm going to ask you to put down the Kool-Aid for just a second. (I must admit that I've been watching games very closely these past couple of weeks with the intention of keeping a very close eye on Perkins, and I've come to like his improving game a lot more than I did before).
At this present time, where would you rank Perkins among NBA Centers?
Keep in mind that he's still just 21, only averaged 19.6 mpg last season, along with 5.9 rpg and 1.6 bpg. He put up comparable numbers to a 36 yr old Alonzo Mourning (20 mpg, 5.5 rpg, 2.7 bpg).
Right now, he's close to: Brendan Haywood: 24 mpg, 5.9 rpg, 1.3 bpg Nazr Mohammed: 17.4 mpg, 5.2 rpg, 0.6 bpg Francisco Elson: 22 mpg, 4.7 rpg, 0.6 bpg Lorenzen Wright: 21.7 mpg, 5.1 rpg, 0.6 bpg
Perks numbers would put him above these guys, but not quite the level of a guy like Erik Dampier (23.6 mpg, 7.8 rpg, 1.3 bpg).
How high do you feel he'll be after this season?

id guess dapierish numbers this season, but i wouldnt be surprised if he put up slightly better numbers. Id say 07-08 we'll see Perk close to his prime.

Kind of funny when you think about it, Fresh. Next year, Perk will be 22 yrs old, but you mention he'll be playing close to his prime. We are pretty lucky to have such a young guy who has so much room to grow, and a lot of time ahead of him to develop.

I am a huge Perk fan. I think he is going to be a very dominant center in this league. I don't really know who to compare him with but know he is going to be a defensive force in the center and with his work ethic is also going to be able to score from there as well. I know he will be averaging a double double as soon as this season.

I knew I could count on you to chip in, FL ;D I think Perk has some limitations (physically and offensively), but I do see him being one of the top defensive and rebounding Centers in the league in the near future. This year may be the year in which he establishes himself around the league and people start giving him credit for being more than an average Center.
I'm definitely coming around to the Perkins bandwagon.

I don't really know who to compare him with C17 made the comparision of Perk to Clifford Ray before Ray was hired by us. IMO thats the best comparision. Slightly undersized, has long arms, was limited offensively but was great on the boards and blocking shots.

Yep, that sounds like Perk to a tee.

Perks is a third tier center at present. Though, has the opportunity to rise to the second tier. More experience. Just needs more playing time.
